I would rather see them paid at least 100k. The owner of my local hair salon makes more than tham. I would also rather the job attracted more competent people but be all know that the brain dead British public are incapable of rational thought so would not vote for a person with a more practical less ideological approach to running the country.

Let's get some things straight.

A HeadTeacher of a Senior School with approx. 1,000 pupils and 200 Staff earns around £125,000 ...... twice as much as an MP.

Regarding their Gold Plated Pension which costs them 1.5% - imagine, if you will, an MP who is unmarried ....... they get EVERY single penny of that contribution back when they retire - as the 1.5% is to cover spouse and benefits 'In Service'.

£60,000 isn't much these days, let's be honest ...... don't get me wrong, I don't think they deserve a 32% Pay Rise - but I certainly wouldn't be pulling my socks on for a pathetic £60,000.

I could 'almost' handle this if they were even good at their jobs, but considering how **** this place has turned in the last decade or so due to them and their kind being so ******* useless and bloody clueless this is nothing more than a pi$$ take from them!

In truth, we can all 'have a go' at it - if we want to attempt to make a difference.

But, it will be like all these things ..... you will be unable to do anything at all.

Take for example the fact that we, as a country, are bankrupt ..... we couldn't pay for even just the promised State Pensions.

Pensions were brought in in 1909, payable only to men, at age 70 - 2 shillings a week ..... when the average life expectancy of a working man was 48!!!

Fast forward to now - average life 80 and retirement at 65 ...... we simply cannot meet the commitment.

And that's just one item we cannot afford ..... there are 1,000's others!!

Mp's really shot themselves in the foot with their lying and cheating over their allowances when it all came out. I never meet anyone who would trust a politician any more. The word politician seems to be synonymous with "lying" these days.

As ever they are showing themselves again in their true colours.

Pay them £100k each and that's it - no allowances, no expenses (except actuals), no housing allowances at all.

why the need for wages quite so high? maybe performance based pay would be better - not sitting on the back bench for decades, drinking tea and shouting aye, aye.

introduce a policy that results in employment for there constituents, or anything that is of benefit and rewards the hard working sector of there area - then they might be entitled to a bonus of some kind?

Lol at the £125k for a head teacher, two of my sister in laws were head teachers and never earned anything like that, and one of them was in the south.

A good friend who is head of a school that was in special measures before she arrived, has taken the school to outstanding in a recent off stead inspection, and now goes around sorting out other schools as well, earns nothing like that and she is in central london, but the price of houses in her catchment area have shot up.

As for mp's no surprises there, i don't think there is any amount of money they would be satisfied with.

With regards the top job, or any of the cabinet positions, it's not about the in the job salary, it's about all the kick backs they get from industry after they leave, like £250k per year for being chairman of the board and attending one annual board meeting and taking a couple of calls, but when you look back through the history you discover they helped said company land some major contract or changed some rules to allow them to make stupid money.

You only have to look at what the likes of blair and brown make now to see this in action, i believe blair made around £5,000,000 in his first year while still costing the tax payer a small fortune in protection services and flights around the world, plus no doubt a fantastic pension scheme to boot.

What a great job, no wonder it attracts the biggest leaches.

Imagine if a School had around 1030 pupils generally ... then, the demographics of the area dropped that to 900.

Would the Head Teacher have their Salary decreased?

You are talking to someone who knows about these things - you need to be sure of your facts before casting doubt on my statements!

1. I said Head Teacher of a Senior School ...... I know that HeadTeachers of Primaries only get around £60,000 and Heads of Junior Schools get only around £75,000.

2. Your friend is leading you a merry dance ..... unless she is merely a Primary or Junior Head. If she is a SuperHead, sorting out failing schools in the Senior sector, then she is on £175,000 minimum .......... anyway, what makes you think she earns less than a RoadSweeper, did she tell you?

It's quite simple really.

The Governors decide on the Heads pay.

The Heads pay must remain a 'certain' level above all other Teachers in the school.

The Head decides upon the Teaching Staff wages, if he/she rewards heavily (which I have seen nothing but this), he/she boosts their own wage ....... beautifully simple.

Then the Head simple mentions to a 'select' 2 or 3 Governors that the differential has been closed and BINGO! Head receives an automatic hike further up the payscale - due, in the main, to awarding big increases to Staff ..................... like I said, beautiful.

If the parents of the kids knew what went on with the pay and benefits of Teachers, their toes would curl ......
