I've delt with Sky extensively and they are a good company to deal with. I've had plenty of companies refuse to insure certain cars I've owned, but I would not go on here and slag them off. It's how the world works - they don't have to insure you.

i have been with Sky for about 3 or 4 years on a few cars i have, they've been mostly competative, especially on modified cars. they've tried their best on my standard cars but usually compare sites have been better. overall i am very happy with them, cheapest isn't always best either.

The thread was over long before. Most people do post what they think but the quality of their posts often dictates what sort of response they get.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience.

This thread is a particularly good example of what (and why it) has happened to the Subaru marque.
I'd hazard there is a large percentage of Subaru's out there insured as "standard", when infact they are tarted up with stickers, roof tat and other chav bollocks bringing the marque down to the general population and insurers.
Bellend indeed.

Ask for a refund then as you wouldnt have been covered. Ive read that people who change their mats have been asked to declare them. I would like to see that one held up in court but its amazing what some companies will try which is why its best to stick to the well known companies that you find on here.

dont know if this is the case with everyones policys or moley got me a good deal but mine was cheaper than the comparison sites even with declared mods on it
i have had imprezas for years and i have to say i was amazed how cheap my insurance was through a specialist.

Yep, mine was £430 with declared mods. Cheapest on Gocompare would have cost me £545 and thats with them completely cocking up. I got referred to a company with my mods declared only to find in the break down of the policy (after I had paid) that the clauses meant that due to the time they were fitted my mods were not covered. I was honest with them (as they would never have know) and cancelled my policy where they then tried to charge me £25 admin fee! I wrote them a strong letter telling them exactly why I was not intending to pay that and they 'let me off'.

Been insured with Gary since 2006 IIRC, and in that time I've only spoken to him 2 or 3 times. I just send a PM to ask him to renew the policy.
I'll have to speak to him soon though, I've forgotten to declare my titanium key as a mod.

I got a quote off a comparison website for my Seat Leon... £345.
When i checked the small print and rang the company it would have been £580 as a like-for-like policy comapred to mine, as apparently the online price was a 'prices from' deal (ie if i had a £700 excess, didn't get 3rd party on other cars, no legal, no protected NCB etc..)
Most people go onto these websites when they get their renewals, and very often get a cheaper quote. However, 95% of the time they come back to us, as when they come to pay for the policy, or check the small print the prices increases a lot) on average about 40%)
We put a lot of effort into keeping our customers, and don't just assume people will renew.

We always need a years experience.
We do have some companies who will quote for a new purchase without experience, but they are normally pretty expensive.
All the specialist insurers we use need that driving experience before they will quote a good price

What do people do when then buy a new car? Pay a huge premium until renewal time or would moving to a car with similar performance be ok?
Mickywrx have you kept the same car for 6 years?
