I guess the Impreza in all its forms is one the greatest car ever conceived so perhaps their bluster and noise is deserved

Ash a serious question.

A mk 2 focus rs costs 25 to 30 k

Your type r probably 4 to 5k.

What were you expecting from a 13 yr old car with 90 k on the clock?

Why did you sell the focus and what money did you get for it??
Im guessing a lot more than the cost of an old type r.

Why didnt you buy something more capable if beating fords etc was your aim.

People mention going from fwd to a Scooby and learning the car as they have different characteristics etc. Try going from a Scooby to a rwd M3 with 342bhp...I **** myself at every roundabout

Understandable but then you have to accept the car you bought is an old model and high mileage conpared to a new rs focus.

Add to the mix your car is standard the focus will always win.

As for the fiesta. This can only be down to driver skill.

All joking and joshing aside I do agree with him to an extent. The car is hyped beyond reality and as good as it is there is plenty they need doing to them to make them the cars we all know and love. How many people on here have anything close to a standard car?

Not slagging them off (I've had them for 16 years), but I do think there is room to be disappointed if you listen to how certain people hold them up as the Holy Grail.

However I do also think that moving from FWD to AWD takes time and practice to get the best out of the car - it's quite a different driving style that's required.

I do, remap, panel filter and exhaust 360/360, You cant compare using the rule that all imprezas handle great, How many different variations of the same car is there,

2.0 sport
2.0 WRX
2.0 WRX PPP
2.0 STI
2.0 STI PPP
2.0 STI Spec-C
2.0 STI Spe-C Type RA
2.0 STI Spec-C Type RA-R

They are all impreza`s but there is a massive difference in handling between the top and bottom of that list in standard form

And yes there is a massive difference between FWD and AWD this can be demonstrated by powering into a corner and lifting off the accelerator but dont try it unless you want the *** end of the car to overtake you

I don't think I said that all Imprezas handle great, quite the opposite in fact.

Lmfao at this thread no Scooby sti should be beaten in the twisties by any fwd na ford no matter how far suspension engineering has come! As said previously get a geometry set up done some better brakes to help you through the corners and grow some bigger ***** than the fiesta driver who obviously knows how to go round bends properly even in a 2wd car with less grip

One other thing to consider is tyres.

You could have an Impreza with all the suspension mods, but stick a set of budgets on and you'll struggle.

Ello newbie been snooping on the forum far a while and this thread has made me join, not my usual sort of thing to get involved.

But i just ask is the fiesta standard? Or is it modified, stripped out and is the driver and track driver or just a guy/girl in a fiesta?

Surely you pulled away on the straights enough to lose him or did he carry his speed through and out (indicating professional or trained driver?)

Just my 2 cents.

To answer the title of your OP yes Scoobies are overrated by some but massively underrated by others. I think the motoring press' current opinion of Scoobies and Evos is a display of blatant eurofavouritism.
I feel like I must correct you there. Clearly, Ash wouldve been in the hedge if that Fiesta was driven by plato unless Ash drives like Mat Neal; rubbish without his superior turbo boost XD. And im a Plato fan at that.

One word here : Falkens

Put them straight in scrap and put on some ad08's

See how you feel after that,my first classic had 4 new Falkens on it when I bought it and it handled horrendously.
Carried out the above and set up the geo and it felt like a completely different car altogether.

Obviously , Falkens 350 quid , Advans 700 quid .... , You cant compare the best with midd range ones... The 453s are not that bad thought for what they cost...

It had 452's on mine just to clear things up.
Also I don't see the point in buying cars like what we own and quibbling over tyres imo.

Nothing wrong with 452's imo, I have a set on mine, plenty of grip and poise with them.

Tyres vary vastly dependant upon the size and car they are fitted to.

The toyo proxi are good on a newage on 17's but become hedge hunters on a classic with 18's.
