Are scoobys over rated?

Doesn’t sound right.
You should have a vf28 as standard which is one of the fastest spooling turbos, and also a close ratio gearbox with a final 4.44 rear diff (forged pistons as standard).
So a fast spooling turbo, close ratio geabox pushing 280 bhp as standard -very few car even with the standard set up you have can match a 0-60 of 4.4 ish.
I had a STI5 wagon and it would destroy any ford up to 60 – i lost out at the top end due to the gearing but as a weapon for under 100mph very few cars would come close.
Either you’re a cautious driver of the car has an issue.

It might not be that the OP is a bad driver, it's probably more down to confidence.
The ST driver may have a lot of confidence and be willing to push the car that bit further than someone who has just bought a STI.
When i first got my Impreza i didn't push it much, as i was used to FWD cars, so i didn't appreciate exactly what the Subaru could do.
This is why insurance is so high in the first year, and why we often don't quote without a years ownership... it takes a while to learn what the car will do.
Infact fair play to the OP for not pushing his car to the edge to beat the ST.
The STI will beat the Fiesta, once you get to know what the car will do. Don't crash it learning though!

Got to be a school boys wind up
But HEY Respect four pages when most of us are working too
By tonight we might get to ten pages once the grammar and spelling police
Come back from the library and check your written word
Maybe you need a dumpvalve that will help take it faster to the scrap heap
Your doing well for a newby
But Tommy and F1 will grind you down
Forget the modding advice it's faster enough just need some track day tuition and
Maybe a run out with your local club to follow their road position
As for the fiesta well no chance of keeping up

lol how is it crap lol you clearly havnt driven any other performance car other than a scooby lol or not enough to learn to drive it properly lol and you act as if your the perfect driver lol as if youve never put your foot down on public roads lol you wouldnt own a car like this if you stuck to the speed limits all the time lol

Serious question tommy; do you have a personal axe to grind with the OP or do you always respond in such an abrasive manner? Have to ask as I didn't think the post was that bad really, (particularly in the context of some of the utter 5hite thats posted on here)...pretty sure he didn't use the 'r' word either

he just doesnt like me cause i asked about how to improve the handling on my car on the BABS forum cause it doesnt go round the bends as well as my old RS, but becuase i said this instead of coming back with anything constructive i.e. check tyres arent over/under inflated etc etc he said im a crap driver cause every subaru in the world has perfect handling! so i think i insulted him by saying my 3 year old RS out handled my 14 year old impreza....
Find yourself a wide empty car park or book a session with a recommended instructor (Andy Walsh at Car Limits all day, every day for me), and find the limits of the thing...DCCD makes these cars loads of fun once you have a bit more confidence

In all serious-ness, im not sure what responses you thought you'd get?!
You can quite easily get an impreza to do its 0-60 figures.
You should beat fords worst hot hatch easily and should be hot on the tail of RS's too.

Your obviously very immature, and i'd say inexperienced in just about everything.
I started out with rear wheel drive fords back in the days when they made real drivers cars, then i got into fiesta xr2's for a few years so have some idea about both sides of the coin.
The type r needs to be driven like a rear wheel drive car which is a totally different style of driving, they are NOT the same as other scoobies which handle more like front wheel drive cars and understeer as opposed to oversteer, they are far less forgiving of poor/inexperienced drivers, as many have discovered to their cost.
So we have taken the pee a bit, but you really have jumped in at the deep end with your choice of car, and there are a fair few on here who would struggle to get the best out of one without lots of practice and a very committed driving style, which is why they often end up bent in a scrap yard somewhere.
Get the car set up properly and take some time to get to know it's characteristics and you will wipe the floor with all of the other cars you raced, but be warned it will bite you in the *** if you lift off.

Oh grow up children!
Ash, your post count is rising rapidly, but useful ones not so. Relax. Tommy, enough trolling please. It's only Monday FFS.
Now, I am an experienced driver, my last car was a RWD and FWD before that. It took me many months to really understand what my STi was up to, and a lot of fiddling to make changes to it to suit how I wanted it to feel.
The feel is determined by so many things, and there are so many changes you can make. Camber, caster, toe, tyres and pressures all make really noticable changes, and ride height is the most misunderstood as it affects nearly all of them as well as roll centres and axis which totally transforms (usually ruins) an Impreza chassis.
Tyres? Falken. Hmm. RE050, Toyo Proxis or RE070 are awesome I believe, I'm on RE070 and they terify me, because if they ever do let go I'll be going so fast I won't stand a chance!
Toe, camber and front caster are all non standard if you have the ALK. They would have been reset at some point as fitting an ALK and not doing a setup is just daft. The Rear ARB is probably adjustable if you've looked.
So, what to do. REad the threads on here first and take a moment to wonder what you want from the car. Figure this out and realise you need to move your skills towards this goal too.
You can't know what it is set to unless there is a set up data sheet somewhere. I would suggest you book up for a full alignment to P1 specs. With the sheet you'll at least have a starting point. The mods on your car are good, as I have them too. I'm on coilovers now mind. Fantastic investment IMHO.
Then learn your car. The Subaru is blistering in 50-70 twisties when sorted. On and off boost, 3rd and fourth gear, using that wave of torque between 3-5,000rpm. No point revving it out though, just not it's style. Brake, turn and power through the apex, under power it can be sublime if set up right.
Best of luck and with a bit of effort you'll have those RS's for fun- but please do this on a track day or away from the public highway.
