I am however seriously contemplating 1 of the following 3 cars
merc A CLASS AMg a45
Focus Cosworth if it ever comes out
New 2013 Subaru Forester 270BHP version.
well see, or I,ll keep my baby and have it pimped by one of the guys on here

I've had 2 scooby's from G.Walkers without fuss.
But,out of interest, did Matt/Neil knock any £££ off the screen price? They were stubborn as **** with me on both occasions !

Stunning motor .... I was torn between the rs or the scooby. Choose the scooby because it had four doors (. I've got kids and three doors is a right mare with a baby ) and for the fact for £ to performance I think the scooby wins hands down.

Plus the focus is better mpg wise and services are at less intervals, insurance is a LOT cheaper.
With all the things I looked at I know the rs was the best option for me, the hawkeye could of tempted me but I think the rs is a better dd and on the motorway where I spend most of my time.

At the end of the day you have based your judgment on what is best for you , which in my eyes is the best thing you can do , it's your money and you who will be driving the car Hope you enjoy yr new motor :-)

You know that feeling when you realise you have made a big mistake
Doesnt look good on the work front either so could be back in a scoob very very soon.

Possibly looking at redundancy so car could be going back to the dealers and I will get a hawkeye without any outstanding debt on it.
Work is not the only reason either.

Thats a bugger, at least you'll still have a decent motor, get a compression check done as part of the deal though dont take the risk. Whats the other reason then? Either you dont like it or the wife doesnt

Sorry to hear that so soon after. Likewise is something up with your RS?
Just chatting to a bloke on focusrsoc.com that works local to me who has a full decat mongoose exhaust so gonna go have a listen to that. Probably too loud for my taste but he is soon to change over to a milltek resonated which is what I have been looking at so be good to hear the difference.

She hates everycar I own! Theres two hawkeyes there apparently ones pushing over 400bhp so hoping its been forged when I go and see them tomorrow.
That was one thing that put me off the 2.5 engine in the first place. 2l engine isnt a good dd imo.
The focus is lovely you just cant use the power effectively.

No nothing wrong with the Rs its a great car just need to free up some cash but I will say that getting power down is very hard even in the dry in the first 3 gears.

I know how you feel in struggling to get power down in a front 2 wheel drive car.... Mine is only 240bhp and even in the damp it's a real pain. Basically you want an ideal all round car which works well in dry and wet, so I think when I eventually change, it'll be 4 wheel drive

Im a huge ford and scooby fan personally.
If i could afford to insure and run, id rather have the RB320.
If not, the RS. To someone 20-29, the RS would be MUCH cheaper to insure (especially in my area oop norrrf.)

Really considering taking the plunge and going for one of these RS Focus' in the near future... are there any common faults to look for??

Only common faults are on lux pack 2's the reversing camera is prone to failing, and leather on the bolsters prone to wearing if no seat covers are used.... Mechanicaly they are very good....
If u look at a modded one if its over 420 bhp and doesnt have forged internals the block may be prone to cracking liners, and if it has a turbo back exhaust you will want to invest in some locking downpipe bolts as they rattle loose.....

What about the exploding plenums? Seems quite a few have had this problem.
Anyway mine has been moved on now after only having a month in it.
Mainly because I had a bit of money tied up in it which I needed to free but the other thing was the power isnt usable in first and second gear.
I hear after mapping can sort this issue though with a smoother delivery map but im not convinced. Its a great dd car, looks great, sounds brilliant, seats are good, the ride is quite harsh coilovers are meant to sort that out though.
I averaged 22mpg and that was doing 30 miles a day little bit of town and the rest motorway with the odd blast.
I am now in an e46 m3 and I think its a much better prospect even given the issues they might have. Can be had for 10k cheaper I know its an older car but its right up there.

the plenum is a problem yes, BUT not something you can look out for, the best solution is remove the standard items ASAP. There are several things to do, rather than look for. The headlight washer jet covers can fall off, to solve this in the early days we just put a small cable tie round the clip (pull it out you will see it)pop over to the chaps on Focusrsoc and they will go through any questions you have.
depends how you drive it, yes i could get mine to spin up in the first 3 gears if i wanted too, but then @ nearly 400 bhp what do you expect. im sure a scoob will spin up if you try @ 400 bhp. (infact i know it will as my 350 bhp spec C did)

yeha they are expensive for what is at the end of the day a focus lol do miss it though....
never really had an issue with traction other than in 1st in the wet if i tried to launch it (so just didnt bother) and when tread on tyres was low.... its different to the scoob isnt it, you just floor it in the scoob and it goes you just have to push the pedal down the the RS rather than stomping on it and its all good lol
Never got round to having mine mapped, but went out in a mates Jamsport 400 and that was theoppoiste, but thats only cause they map loads of boost into it to make 400 lol
I did look at an E46 M3 after the RS too, but coming from that i wanted something that was kind of unique again i.e. the RS had the 5 pot sound, popped and bannged like a gun shot with exhaust lol and the mad styling, where as the scoob has the 4 pot rumble nothing else has.... M3 didnt really have anything to make it stand out too me, do like them though... dad has recently got an E92 ltd edition like below:

Ash must say am having the most fun in the M3 at the minute. Sideways action never gets old but they feel very planted. Quicker than the rs too but much more confortable at the same time, they will become a classic in years to come I think as they have the whole package.
