Damnit not you as well Joe ! Frustrating as it would have been good to meet you. Very pleased you liked the car I abandond the idea of giving it a quick clean after the grubby run down that morning and the weather was scabby in the day.

All being well I'll make a journey down next year to one of the big events and get a look round your car in the flesh.

I was also at Brands for TA, but didn't see your car! Sounds like I was the only one lol, but I did see it at Rallyday :-) How about a run to the Classic Motor Show @ the NEC this weekend.. thinking of taking mine up, would make a decent finish to the year, but 300 mile trips in a 93 RA need a fair bit of consideration.. and fuel!

If your going to do one Paul I'd have to recommend Rally Day plus you will know type RA will have a stand in perfect position like this year

Frustratingly I missed a few people on the weekend but I was out and about a lot more than I normally am at a show looking around.

I can't make the NEC this weekend I'm afraid that would have been good to see.
Yes long trips in the RA take some adjustment in the driving style plus I did think after my build that in retrospect maybe I should have put a uk fuel tank on just to give me a little more distance. What I've done to work around that is carry a 2 gallon can with me on a long run, it just allows more distance so I don't have to look around for a shell station.

I've taken a radical step to get my Lamco Gauges working, after looking all year and talking to a few people for alternatives all I've drawn is a blank on replacement sensors for both oil temp and oil pressure. A few days ago I stumbled on a full white faced set for sale, at the time fitted in a car so they were able to confirm they were working ok. I bit the bullet and bought them, I'll store the gauges away and use the sensors on mine that are already installed then if I ever have a gauge fail I've got a spare to re fit.

I'll sell this top box as I don't need it.

At last !

Result! I'm sure it cost you more than you planned - always nice to have spares though

Indeed... catch 22 on this as they say but I need my gauges up and running I'll continue to try and source another set of senders and that will boost the value back up then with my spares package

Spent a couple of hours today on the car just getting it sorted for winter rest up.
Wheels off clean the arches and underside down and after 16 months now on the road I'm really pleased how easy it is to keep the standard up. Also swapped to the second set of wheels which will stay on now until next years show season, car also on SORN now until the spring.

Completely different look now.

Thanks Joe, the gloss finish underneath makes a huge difference it's a simple wipe over, it's something in stages you could do with yours maybe as another step. It's suprising this year I have covered quite a few wet miles it was a grind initially but I don't think about it now. I'm looking forward to getting the suspension sorted out next year and getting the ride height and handling finished off fully.

Looking Good Si, can't wait to see this in the flesh some time next year.
I intend to get the bulk of my underbelly painted over the winter. Although it won't be the full strip down that you did. I just haven't got the facilities for that.

I will have to let you know my movements next year so we can catch up Scott... There's some great shows about away from this chav crap that appears to be so prevalent these days.

If you can get the flat expance with a gloss coat on it you will not look back especially when waxed afterwards it's so easy to maintain its difficult for some people to believe.

Well Si, little did I know that I'd be writing off so much of today when I clicked the link in your PM... but I couldn't stop reading until Page 43!!

What a transformation!!

Few points that require commenting on:

- Superb choice of wheels, they fit the whole RA theme perfectly.
- VERY glad you sacked off the big exhaust, the smaller backbox is far better looking.
- I'm jealous of you meeting Mr STi.
- Glad you resisted the FMIC route, TMIC is best for the OEM+ look you're going for with your car.
- I'd be tempted to run a P1 suspension set up, they're focused but not extreme. Although the 'infinite' adjustability of coilovers would be tempting.

Cheers,
Grant

I do as well Trev... I think a second older set is always a good idea, one you can park up over winter and not worry and two which I am sure a lot will relate to is when you have a set of wheels and nuts on the car which are 100% you always panic when the car goes on for a service and someone else removes them. This way in the spring when I get the suspension changed these will be on and they can throw them about without concern.

Thanks Grant... well you did ask what I was up to and I must admit I had a wry smile on my face when I messaged you the link because I knew when you opened that and started it would be a few hours before you finished as I knew you would end up reading the lot

Yes I agree completely with your thoughts there... I'm making plans for the suspension in regard KYB & Eibach springs and also researching Group N top mounts to fit. For me on this coilovers are not needed they are not an option this time around.

Great to catch up with you there it's been a little while

Simon

I'm gonna say it because everyone else is too polite to,

Si, your cars rubbish and deffo not worth keeping anymore. Therefore I'll be the honourable friend that I am and take it off your hands and hide it away so you don't have to put up with it anymore.

See, how good am I?

You can thank me later, oh and I'll collect it with the Revs on too

Oh I don't know about that there are some fantastic cars out there these days.
I do hope it's inspirational though that's what made me do it as I was inspired at a car show several years ago looking at a restored lotus cortina and thinking my god one day I'd like to do that as you do but little did I know it would happen to a degree.

Looking forward up seeing your next phase there
