1994 Version Sti RA.... Restoration Project.
It's madness when you loose something when you haven't been anywhere
Someone will have one
If it was and old Series 11 the farmers friend could be employed.

I'll have another look tomorrow, all I can think is maybe a Magpie seen it glistening in the sunshine and plucked it away
I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone at Uxbridge

Stu I'll have a good look tomorrow when I get home and confirm with you, there is one further item I am looking for, I have ordered a new one but its looking unlikely to get here in time, It's the rubber bulk head grommet that the air con pipes etc go through... Have I been daft and not opened my eyes to the fact you have had that shell on your drive up until last week, have you by chance got that in your spares box or did it go with the shell?
Thanks there... Plod along step by step you will get there trust me I know
Thanks Micky, the cell light came on with mine it did not like the de cat.
I spoke with Andy at Ace today and I'll take both OEM down pipes up there and he will make two into one so the sensor is after the cat as on the import, that should sort it

Another few small items on the final stretch
Some fresh aluminium paint...

Also after refreshing the black case on the windscreen wiper motor the rest looked really scabby so I've masked it up and given it a quick coat of etch primer ready for the aluminium paint next.

Dropped off all the bolts etc today for zinc coating... 7-14 days turn around, hopefully closer to the 7 fingers crossed.
Picking up all the fresh painted parts shortly so an update later I hope with some very different looking pictures than how it started life

And wiper motor finished.

Cat on Fire light IIRC.
I think that sensor is still plugged in mine, think being the operative word.
Glad Alyn is local, as I wouldn't want your phonebill. International call for that long......

Not long got back home unloaded the car and trailer... Cheers Kev for the help
I'm very very pleased with the results.... I hope you like the colour scheme as the grey will be forgiving when dirty, easy to touch up any chips as it is not metallic or lacquered and it is an agricultural machinery paint which will dry very hard indeed and wear well which is I feel what you need under the car, in fact all of the paint used silver/black/grey/red is all the same brand so it's all up for the job fully.
You will still see some patches showing through where it was blasted clear of rust, I did not want a super smooth super new finish, to me I wanted the history of the car still there.... Apart from the struts and rear arb all is the original car which maintains its integrity in my eyes, I could have replaced with better condition parts but then it's not an 18 year old car... I'm calling it a sympathetic restoration
See what you think chaps.

Coat of black on the springs as well.

Great finish on the shields as well.

New bushes will look fantastic in these.

Happy to help out where I can bud.
That was a lot of bits painted and come out well.
As you say it's hard wearing paint and perfect for components under the car that have a tough life

All being well the shell will get a coat of stone chip at the beginning of next week and all that left then is the top coat... Getting close now
Elbow grease
I use a de greaser called G101 you can get it from PolishedBliss it's fantastic stuff and some of the other bits I've been using dishwasher tablets and soaking the parts in it as suggested that's also been very good indeed.

Had a quick hour last night and finished with the turbo pipe this morning as they were looking very scabby a clean back and some VHT paint just to finish them off.

There's not really much more you can do with them but they came out well considering.
