I reckon many of the no voters would be a bit like myself in that their instinct(heart) was to actually vote yes, but it would be for all the wrong reasons. The head on this occassion ruled. Thats how it was for me and im happy to remain as we are.

Plus I cant help think that the true strength of a man is shown when the going is bad, did the Scottish people ask Salmond to step down because I thought he said he would stand by Scotland in the event of a "NO" victory, infact was it not him that was getting the no camp to commit to coming together in a victory for "YES"?

I think some of them will get over it when the benefit of all that world wide publicity hits. What's come out of it is what an amazing place Scotland looks on the telly. Despite the fact that I get nosebleeds if travelling further North than Bristol, I may even try a visit myself!

You seem surprised, this is what football is about. I keep saying it and the blinkered that follow this stupid sport keep saying otherwise, but it keeps happening and the common theme in all this sort of thing is... football!

Just for the record I'm sick of people like you that won't hear a bad word said about the country and are part of the reason we are where we are.

I am judging you by the stupid things you say. Try talking sense and maybe you'd get some respect.
If you're going anywhere "better" make it soon, yes?

WE are fine. I started out from nothing being born in the early fifties to a typical post war working family. By hard work and enterprise I have built up a good life for myself and my family. I didn't end up owning a large house in the country by lying back and moaning about the poor deal offered to me.
I am judging you by the stupid things you say. Try talking sense and maybe you'd get some respect.

The need to brag about the large house in the country and the oh so familiar rags to riches story makes you sound classless and so misses the point. Never mind, but well done you anyway! If that sounds patronising it was meant to!

And in what world would getting respect from someone like you make a jot of difference to me?

If you want to moan about the country you live in, try one that has real problems, like just about everywhere else.
My parents were brought up in real poverty and deprivation in the thirties and lived through horrendous conditions during WW2. Food rationing was still going on when I was a kid. In spite of that, this country gave me the opportunity to succeed. I have three sons in University education, able to anticipate a life impossible across much of the world.
I accept the inevitable political compromises and make the best of what's in front of me.
If you want to have a really good moan, try living in Africa or Asia or the Middle East. Let us all know how you get on.

They blamed Thatcher for the closures, but how many mines did Labour re open when they got back in? Er, none. You also have the Greens trying to keep them shut.
If a major employer suddenly shuts up shop in an otherwise rural community like that, the results are going to be bad. I drove through Merthyr Tydfil recently, and the place is one vast building site. Somebody is spending money on the place! Hopefully things will improve.
Plymouth lost a major employer in the Dockyard, which had 20,000 in there when I went in, and now has around 5000. I guess they all found something else to do.

The same could be said of up here, if we went half of Newcastle, Sunderland and Middelsbourgh would be unemployed...
