Scottish Independence

Raymond,
Do we really have to go through this again?
I said it wasn't possible - which is correct because the law as it stands doesn't allow it. Did you read that link?
I said it would require a massive undertaking - which it will if contracts are being re-written under English law.
I said it would need a change in law - which it will. Fact. (Again, did you read that link?) So let's assume a Yes vote. This is primary legislation so needs to be voted through parliament. Which gives the Labour party an issue on voting it through - given its strength of representation in Scotland. Scottish labour may well be the controlling party in an independent Scotland.
Now I'm not sure which of those points you struggle with.
What they might do is register an ultimate holding company, but thats still a difficult one for a PLC. You do know what a PLC is don't you? You do undertand the concept of ownership and the need to reissue new shares in a new company, don't you? Do you know anything about company law?
Clearly that's all just a piece of **** to do
Perhaps you should stick to coaching football. Although judging by Motherwell's position in the league there's some work to be done there too . Granted the youth team are fairing a bit better, but still not great.
oh, and who the f*ck is Steve Norris?

You really do struggle with it for sure Steve, do you honestly think that the bigger banks who have come out and publicly declared they will move registration to England just quickly gathered a press release overnight to get that quote out there and hadn't done any of the required spade work to ensure the statement can/and would happen without these 'lengthy delays' you mention........in turn run the risk of it not happening pretty damn quickly if vote is yes and leaving them scrambling around for the answers and process......really you do? Lets play your lengthy and massive undertaking scenario - how long is your massive and very time consuming task going take after March 2016.........just give us a little indication as really keen to hear this??
Next you'll be telling me that the 2 main Edinburgh banks haven't had dedicated Project Teams in place for the past 10 months working on this, and other scenario's if a 'Yes Vote' does happen

Ok we won't call you Steve, we'll keep that to ourselves

You're starting to look a bit obsessed now.
I don't struggle with anything.
What part of "as the law stands you cannor move a companies registered office to England from Scotland" is so difficult for you to undertsand?
What part of "the banks are going to have to ask for changes in the law to move" is it so difficult for you to accept?
What part of "its a change to primary legislation and therefore requires lengthy process" don't you get?
What part of "contract and property law is different in Scotland to England" is unclear to you?
Please tell me that you know what a PLC is?
I said at the outset it can't be done (with specific reference to Peston's BBC story) - which is correct unless there is a fundimental change to the law.
Assuming that change to the law I said that to do so would be a difficult process.
Of course the banks have been considering their options, planning and placing contingencies in place. I've never said they have not. And if you are thinking they won't start the task tomorrow (as opposed to March 2016) if the vote is "Yes" to give them time to be ready for March 2016 then you are more stupid than your inability to comprehend my position on this suggests.
That would give them 18 months to sort it all out.
Anyway, you can call me what you want. If Steve Norris works for you then that's fine. I'm off to google Steve Norris in the hope he's younger and better looking than I am

Total opposite of anything I've seen.
Every single "No thanks" sign trashed within 24 hours.
Not a scratch, ever, on any "Yes" sign.
Gobby yes voters constantly banging on about it, believing all of the SNP bull**** (see this thread).
No voters scared to admit it in public for fear of being shunned and verbally abused by the deluded.
Read a great quote today "Scotland would be like Spain, but without the sunshine"
So, "No thanks" Alex. I believe things will be a hell of a lot worse under independence.

I agree, though, that any damage to anyone elses signeage is unacceptable. From either side.
I saw a picture of a complete ***** in a kilt setting light to a union flag (in Edinburgh I think). FFS, take him to the side and shoot him in the head. There is no place for that disgusting behaviour anywhere.
But for every extremist Yes campaigner, there are as many on the No side. Yes may have its extreme Nationalists. No has the Orange Order, the BNP and Britain First.
I see the Daily Mail is commenting today that no voters are being threatened at the polling station by nationalist thugs. Not as far as anyone I know has seen today. All my no voting friends are quite happy to be open and vocal. They come from all walks of life. None of them feel opressed and unable to express their opnion openly.
There are trouble makers on both sides. The fact is that in the grand scheme of things they are very much in the minority, despite what certain sectors of the media would have us believe.

In all reality, if they don't, there will be a few thousand pissed of biggots but they are not stupid enough nor determined enough that it will ever escalate beyond where it currently is.
You're probably not aware, but the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland has its headquarters slap bang in the middle of a largely Catholic area of Glasgow, 2 minutes from Celtic Park. A visitor would never know.
The vitriol and hate is not independence specific, but its no big deal in reality.

Again, Yawn
The note you posted has about as much REAL value as any bank of England note.
Please note real value and perceived value are very different things
I think I'll wait until I arrive at the polling station and judge the mood before I fully commit

I see the BBC have had a change of heart too
BBC Website
"The Scottish independence referendum is covered on most front pages. However, the BBC is reporting only factual accounts of the election throughout polling day."

Looking forward to the result in the morning and hoping for a yes vote.
Three reasons have left me in the yes camp:
1) Primarily I genuinely think it will be the best thing for Scotland in the long term.
2) The way the No vote campaign has been conducted they deserve to lose.
3) Finally and purely personally to see Cameron's face when he becomes the PM that didn't give a **** about Scotland until it was too late and thereby allowed the UK to break up will be a priceless moment in my life. After Gordon Brown he is the worst PM this nation has ever had and this might move him past Brown in that particular league table.

Nice mature attitude

And this is a cracker. Never mind the **** comment at the start - 35 seconds in, Burley makes reference to Yes voters as "at least two people who are campaigning against England"
1) Guaranteed theere would be more than two
2) "Campaigning against England"?? If that's what the concensus is in England no wonder so many of you are bitter

4) England can rid itself of that ****-hole, Doncaster. It's part of Scotland apparently. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...iven-back.html
