I liked the bit about having their own Royal family as well.
Ooooo looks like chris is a bit bitter that scotland very well could step out of englands shadow and make something of itself LOL
Chris you really dont understand do you
Regardless on how you feel on the matter the people of scotland have had it with westminster and their corruption and lies.
We want to make our own future without your government trying to stop us.
We do shout loud as you said but that just shows our confidence on what we believe in
unlike you who has to fall back on sh1tty replys like above
Bye,,,Bye ENGLAND YES YES YES!!!!!!

must admit having watched Kevin Bridges I still chuckle out loud, I first watched that on the ship and had to stifle my laughter as most of the others on my alleyway were turned in.
anyways a wee copy paste for you
Scotland has only 8.3% of the UK's population. 8.3%! Remember this important figure... 8.3%
But we DO have...
32% of the land area.
61% of the sea area.
90% of the fresh water.
65% of the natural gas production.
96.5% of the crude oil production.
47% of the open cast coal production
81% of the untapped coal reserves
62% of the timber production
46% of the total forest area
92% of the hydro electric production
40% of the wind wave and solar energy production
60% of the fish landings
30% of the beef herd
20% of the sheep herd
9% of the dairy herd
10% of the pig herd
15% if the cereal holdings
20% of the potato holdings
...obviously 100% of the Scotch Whiskey industry.
We have a...
17 billion pound construction industry
13 billion food and drink industry
10 billion business services industry
9.3 billion chemical services industry
A 9.3 billion tourism industry
7 billion financial services industry
5 billion aeroservice industry
4.5 billion pound whiskey exports industry
3.1 billion pound life sciences industry
Scotland still has 350 million pounds worth of textile exports
We have 25% of Europes wave and wind energy potential.
And finally we are blessed to have 1.5 trillion pound worth of oil and gas reserves.
All of this, yet only 8.3% of The UK's population... Whaow Scotland should be rich!
IGNORANCE...

DONT LET POLITICAL IGNORANCE RUIN THIS OPPORTUNITY.
Do you know... This is the UK's legacy of success in our history of being better-together is as follows...
The UK has the 3rd lowest pensions in the 34 OECD countries of the world
The UK has the single most expensive childcare in the European Union
The UK has the second lowest-paid economy in the entire developed world
The UK has the 3rd longest working hours in the EU
The UK has the lowest number of holidays in the EU
The UK has the 8th highest gender inequality pay gap out of the EU's 28 countries
The UK has the highest likelihood of poverty in disablement in the EU
The UK has the highest rail prices in Europe
The UK has the second highest housing cost in Europe
The UK has the highest fuel poverty rates in Europe.
The UK is the 4th highest country of wealth inequality in the entire planet!
But surely these awful figures cannot be possible when you read the following Scottish statistics...
Now, finally, did you also know that in all of the UK's elections for Westminster ever!... Not one vote cast in SCOTLAND has ever mattered! Because of the Westminster numbers, whatever government England votes for, the UK gets. So we have no democracy here!!! 4 decades of tory rule that we voted against is proof enough, and our defiance was punished by the closure of all the mines; closure of all the steelworks; closure of all the shipyards losing hundreds if thousands of jobs. The term used by Westminster's Thatcher when these industries needed some assistance was "let the markets decide". Funny how when the greedy bankers collapsed everywhere they were bailed out to the tune of over a trillion pounds of our money... Not a mention of "let the markets decide".
FACTS:
Fact: Scotland has an oil boom waiting to happen on the West Coast, but Michael Hesaltine signed a cessation of any form of oil exploration in the entire area in the 80's to make way for nuclear submarines which Scotland doesn't want!
Fact: Scotland has shown its revulsion time and time again to nuclear weapons but they place them here against our countries wishes. A recent contingency report was carried out a out the feasibility of relocating them in Portsmouth. The report stated that it was unfeasible because the detrimental risk to the area of an incident was too high. (Ok for the Clyde though)
Fact: Scotland, with only 1 Tory MP, was forced to take the shocking attack on the poor & disabled called The Bedroom Tax, even though as our nations government, Holyrood voted to utterly reject this awful tax on the poor. Westminster gave us it anyway!
Fact: We are led to believe that the oil in our waters is finished and its a dying industry. Yet 13.5 billion has been invested by oil companies in the last 2 years alone!
Fact: The Clair Oil Field is about to open, and on its own has over 650 million barrels which will be extracted over 20+ years with production reaching a hundred thousand barrels a day!
Fact: Scotland gives more to Westminster than it gets back. Do you really think they'd be so keen to keep us if we were being subsidised like they'd have us believe?
Fact: Westminster has amassed over £1.3 trillion debt and still growing at nearly £6000 a second. Thats another £516 million today alone which YOU will have to pay for.
Fact: Of the 178 countries that have gained their own independence across this planet, not one single one of them has ever asked to reverse this independence, and very few of them have the assets we have.
SCOTLAND, WHAT ARE WE SCARED OF? WE HAVE A CHANCE... WITHOUT A SINGLE BULLET BEING FIRED, WITHOUT A SINGLE DEATH... TO GET OUR FREEDOM AND INDEPENDENCE, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUT A CROSS IN THE YES BOX.
SCOTLAND, ITS TIME TO STAND UP AS A NATION AND VOTE YES ON THE 18TH OF SEPTEMBER... AND BECOME A FREE AND CARING NATION AGAIN!!!
VOTE YES AND SET OUR COUNTRY FREE!!!!
Y E S ! ! ! Y E S ! ! ! Y E S ! ! !
edit I must admit, I think our vote did actually matter about 3 or 4 times in the last 100 years or so.

Try being bed bound for 12 months, multiple organ failures, comas, being nil by mouth for 8 months then only being allowed to sip water for the next 6 months or so and thats just the start of my treatment.
But look I am not trying to make this just about intestinal failure, there are many specialists units up and down the uk, some of which most likely in Scotland but the majority will be across the rest of the uk and Scotland can not simply replicate all these units.
Whether you believe it or not if independence is won at some point there is going to be parents being told that the specialist care their child needs is now in the wrong country.

You pose a similar question to what that woman on the TV did. Scunnered quoted it before in his post no. 1406 on this thread. I think we may not be better together today, but if we decide not to be together any longer, we can be even worse tomorrow!
We don't know for sure and time will tell.
On one hand, I think that we should cut the crap and set them free. Too many things to worry about like IS etc. so no point putting good energy into a senseless domestic. give them a shove, if that's what they want, sod it! It's not that the rest of the Britain won't survive without Scotland!
On the other hand, "more the merrier and stronger", "together can beat anything" sort of sayings do make sense unless the differences are beyond repair. Cameron also made sense when he said that today it's him and his party in charge who they don't like, but tomorrow he and his chums could be gone with the wind. I felt sorry for him when he pleaded not to split the country forever instead stay together through thick and thin as always. Hey and Ho.
Basically, the PM needs to be strong for whatever happens. There really is too much sh7t to deal with regardless.

Chris, all joking and banter aside I do hope you can make a recovery.
He was hospitalised for 6 months and for about 5 years couldnt be any more that 30 feet from a toilet. 12 years of steroids, Asacol (which he will be on for life) that foam stuff and as can best be described as **** drips (fnar fnar...sorry I was quite young when he was suffering)
He has been clear for about 15 years now but has been left with osteoporosis from the steroids along with diverticulitis which is stopping them from treating his prostate cancer.
I remember at his worst he was begging the doctors to give him a colostomy bag which they very nearly did before the medication and change of diet started taking effect (after about 8 years)
anyway back on topic
FREEDOM FOR SCOTLAND....VOTE YES

Y E S ! ! ! Y E S ! ! ! Y E S ! ! !
edit I must admit, I think our vote did actually matter about 3 or 4 times in the last 100 years or so.
anyways a wee copy paste for you
Scotland has only 8.3% of the UK's population. 8.3%! Remember this important figure... 8.3%
But we DO have...
32% of the land area.
61% of the sea area.
90% of the fresh water.
65% of the natural gas production.
96.5% of the crude oil production.
47% of the open cast coal production
81% of the untapped coal reserves
62% of the timber production
46% of the total forest area
92% of the hydro electric production
40% of the wind wave and solar energy production
60% of the fish landings
30% of the beef herd
20% of the sheep herd
9% of the dairy herd
10% of the pig herd
15% if the cereal holdings
20% of the potato holdings
...obviously 100% of the Scotch Whiskey industry.
We have a...
17 billion pound construction industry
13 billion food and drink industry
10 billion business services industry
9.3 billion chemical services industry
A 9.3 billion tourism industry
7 billion financial services industry
5 billion aeroservice industry
4.5 billion pound whiskey exports industry
3.1 billion pound life sciences industry
Scotland still has 350 million pounds worth of textile exports
We have 25% of Europes wave and wind energy potential.
And finally we are blessed to have 1.5 trillion pound worth of oil and gas reserves.
All of this, yet only 8.3% of The UK's population... Whaow Scotland should be rich!
IGNORANCE...
If you hear anyone saying "I DONT LIKE ALEX SALMOND" or "I DONT LIKE SNP"...
THIS VOTE IS ABOUT SCOTLAND'S RIGHT TO ELECT ITS OWN GOVERNMENT... IT HAS NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH ALEX SALMOND OR THE SNP.

I will admit that there are alot that think independence is right for Scotland so I have to consider that some may be right

You never know, Scotland will be free to focus on its economy and westminster will have less to worry about and have a more manageable economy for their ability or lack off so could be a win win. Stability is a issue though, the more legs you have the stronger you can stand.

Not a problem Chris, no offense taken, I'm just a bit of a wind up merchant at times
As everyone can guess I am passionately for Independence but I am not offended by how people vote, I am only offended if they don't vote!!!!!
The thoughts that this will divide families and or friends is just madness, I have a few friends who are No voters and we have had many light hearted debates on the subject.
Whatever the outcome I recon everybody in Scotland will rally together and make it work Yes or No.
Graeme

Yes it is a bit frustrating but only because people like you avoid serious issues and continue to say things like "you really dont understand" and so on then have the cheek so say I am giving shìtty replys.
I get it, you will be able to be the master of your own destiny, but as always, hope and dreams dont put food on the table.

They mention things like they"markets" don't seem to like it - why would you take much notice of the "markets"
Their view of "the Long term" is measured in months
I can't see why the vote is restricted to the Scots, surely the rest of the UK have a right to say whether we want to be joined with them..
Now just imagine if this was England voting for independence....
Now just imagine if this was England voting for independence....
Tut tut tut Mr Norris
It went from not possible, needs dramatic changes in law, lengthy work to even consider getting put through and ultimately "massive" and unlikely when asked by myself and jonc at outset through a variety of posts.....and yet as we get closer to the date each bank now confidently states that "they will" move registration to England from Scotland.
Now, either you are in charge of both banks or maybe you've just been guessing all along and looking at current set-ups.
Every day should be a school day for you Steve as you've missed some classes

Do we really have to go through this again?
I said it wasn't possible - which is correct because the law as it stands doesn't allow it. Did you read that link?
I said it would require a massive undertaking - which it will if contracts are being re-written under English law.
I said it would need a change in law - which it will. Fact. (Again, did you read that link?) So let's assume a Yes vote. This is primary legislation so needs to be voted through parliament. Which gives the Labour party an issue on voting it through - given its strength of representation in Scotland. Scottish labour may well be the controlling party in an independent Scotland.
Now I'm not sure which of those points you struggle with.
What they might do is register an ultimate holding company, but thats still a difficult one for a PLC. You do know what a PLC is don't you? You do undertand the concept of ownership and the need to reissue new shares in a new company, don't you? Do you know anything about company law?
Clearly that's all just a piece of **** to do

Perhaps you should stick to coaching football. Although judging by Motherwell's position in the league there's some work to be done there too
. Granted the youth team are fairing a bit better, but still not great.oh, and who the f*ck is Steve Norris?
As bad as yoù may think it was for your dad I can tell you now that the very fact that he is alive and has not had to be treated by the intestinal failure unit in Salford that his condition was nothing more than a bad cold for me.

But in a serious note, I don't see why I should have a vote on it.
I was in Shrewsbury hospital in the early days and they could not send me home on tpn, I had to be moved to Salford royal.
Why do you think people are transferred from NI and north Scotland in very poor health to be treated at Salford royal.
But I do ask myself why I am even bothering to explain myself. I have been dealing with this condition for 7 years now and have been on tpn for 3 years but yet you seem to think that you know more about it than me

Your condition is largely irrelevant to the conversation here. I'm not asking you to explain yourself. I was simply stating that treatment is available in Scotland. Accepted it may not be quite as good.
Without Bupa, would you get the same care tho?
But in the grand scheme of things the independence question hinges on significantly more important matters than whether or not certain specialist medical care is available or not. Will the lack of a specialist tpn care ward in Scotland affect the outcome? No.
