Scottish Independence
i have english family that i like and some english friends that i like and respect
i am anti westminster but for the most part dont mind english people in general
i do like to wind them up though

look the facts in seperation is both partys give a shares of each others assets
lets not forget that england wants a share of our assets too
so bank of england is ours as well maybe a very small share but still its a shared asset within the uk.
lets not forget if independence happens you will still have a small share of our resources as well
oil for one and fresh soft water that gets pumped in a pipeline to england which makes a considerable difference during summer when you have water shortages

Thats fine then because rUK keeps the national debt in that case
And before anybody says intrest rates will go up for defaulting
It has already been proven and admitted by the bank of england and the government
That the debt belongs to them so we cant default on a debt thats not ours in the first place
I do want scotland to pay their share
But if no currency union is given then i will be fully behind walking away from the national debt

It works both ways, you can't have your cake and eat it.
We will probably end up with a currency union, even though the government abd BOE are digging their heels in right now.
I really think that this would be the worst possible outcome for the UK in the long run.
I'd rather we agreed to waive their share of the debt. That way Scotland wouldn't run the risk of being punished by the markets, but most importantly it would limit our liabilities. I cannot think of a single reason why the UK taxpayer should have to prop up the Scottish economy and banking system.

dont work like that unfortunatly for you
we are having our cake and eating it and Mmmmm tastes goooood
You would be eaten alive
I want to hear about more than the financial side of things. I want to know about defence, borders, if the next general election will happen or be delayed, etc.
I think there is a real possibility that it will work that way. For example, you will no longer have access to UK's military assets for land, sea and air. Sure you keep the bases, but anything not fixed will move to the UK, say goodbye to the modern aircrafts, tanks, ships etc, you may see partial dismantling of renewable energy sources and UK subsidies will no longer pay or maintain them, also other public services such as the DVLA, passport control, the BBC etc. Your cake might taste nice at first, but it's gonna give you the ***** for some time. On the bright side, you won't get Top Gear anymore.

I love the Scots and their country, ( I have Scottish ancestry) and do not want them to leave, but everyone I speak to in work isn,t interested in what they decide. Most say good riddance.

I can really see us giving them a golden goodbye, followed by an even bigger golden hello in five years when they need to come back, even after we've propped them up during that time.
Sigh........the UK taxpayer gets shafted again, same as it ever was.
And what's the betting that all those agitating for them to say yes, would walk away with full pockets too, given the above? Whereas each and every one of them should be bankrupt if the above comes to pass.

who is going to invade us exactly that we need massive armys to protect us ?
rUk will need big armys for when the USA drags them into more illegal wars
looking for WMD that even a UK ambassador went onto camera to say they knew there was no WMD even before they invaded.
you will need big armys not us

maybe under the scottish driving agency we might actually get pot holes fixed for a change.

Its already open season in England with terrorists plotting to attack you with a massive muslim population that hate you
Why is that Mmmm maybe because you go following the USA into the middle east trying to grab their resources and blaming it on non existent WMD's.
dont get me wrong I hope nothing ever happens to england as even though I want separation I will still care what happens to england
there was one terrorist jihad attack in scotland where the fella got banjoed from a baggage handler.
dont see the war machine attacking the republic of ireland do we
