Simple answer is some are some aren't.

It's possible to add the additional wiring to the mirror assembly although changing the glass to suit on the early versions can be a pain.

As for the wiring in the car, some have it in the door looms but lack the cross feed from door to door requiring some additional work.

06 EDM mirror wiring....

Later JDM non heated Mirror components..

Heated and Folding wiring

I would say the relevant wiring diagram pages would be required to do it.

Why then do you need to heat them?

Tony
You get frost whether they are in or out, and it's more to do with misting than frost. You clear the frost, but misting can return.

heres a pic of my mirrors (only on i have sorry) you will see they are a slightly different design to the blobeye but fit no problem.

you will also need to wire them in and get a jdm door switch with the door panel to fit it into on the 05 on or just a different switch on the pre facelift models where the switch is in the centre console.

i can tell you 100% the ones i have are heated and floding and are from a 2002 bugeye sti jdm model, as said before the jdm blobs are only folding.

the above advice is from someone who HAS done the mod to a uk car

A bit of an update....

I wasn't going to bother fitting as I like heated mirrors, but decided just to go ahead and fit.

I've sussed the wiring now, so that's good. I added two extra wires from the open/close on mirrors to a JDM switch in front of handbrake. (checked pin outs with multimeter) All working fine. I'm really liking having folders, although I'll keep an eye open for heated folders from a JDM Bug and swap them over now the wiring is sorted.

Thanks for all the info and help guys, invaluable.

I've had 2 JDM's and now a Spec C and never had heated mirrors on any of them.

Is the point here that JDM's do not have heated...but you can mod a JDM using UK/EU mirrors, depending on year?

i think what the verdict is, if you want folding mirrors and also the heated as standard you need wing mirrors of a 2002 bug eye JDM

My bug STI type uk has heated mirrors but not folding ones.
They have been a godsend in this current weather situation.

That's weird, so not all Bug JDM STi's had heated, maybe it was an optional extra. Ah well, not to worry, I'm loving my folders, even if they ain't heated...
