The car is looking fantastic albeit that it's now plastered with around 1,000,000 dead bugs plastered all over the front end.
I'm going to take it out early tomorrow and take some nice pics of my own.

Lovely car. Glad it's finished to enjoy now.
One thing I have to say though, those mud flaps do no joys for the car.
Obviously they have a purpose, but I'd have to put up with the consiquences of not having them lol. Apart from that, everything is perfect.

The good thing about the flaps that are fitted is that they are very flexible and won't get trapped under my wheels when I reverse off my drive, as it's a slight downhill gradient the standard flaps can get trapped under the rear wheels.
On my S202 I nearly ripped my back bumper off so any flaps have to be very flexible but I'm going to get a set of the Rally Armor very shortly.

I think my heater motor may be on it's way out.
I noticed yesterday that when I put the heater motor above the first speed setting that it makes an annoying metallic 'tingling' noise, not like a screech it's lower pitched than that.
I dare say this will involve a full dash strip down to investigate and repair the fault.

Stop talking about it, get your aldis/lidls screwdriver set out and fix it then!
With your new figure you might be able to lube up with a bit of KY and slide into one of the vents....simples!

Not for a while, I'll let it develop until it gets a lot worse.
It's just bloody annoying, get the AC re-installed and now the bloody heater motor starts to fail.
******* cars, they are more trouble (at times) than they are worth.
Sod that Rob, I've seen how much work there is in stripping down a truck dashboard that has far better access.
I will just turn up the tunes to drown out the noise for the moment, until it stops working altogether at which point I will get it sorted.

Things aren't going well with this f***ing car, I may be faced with a decision later on about what to do with it.
Once the initial diagnosis has been confirmed or disproved I'll post up further details.

Sorry to read this mate, I have learnt the hard way that the more you mess about with these cars the quicker they blow one way or another and running big power is a time bomb just waiting to go off , sold my 350z and been looking for a nice standard sti and that's the way it will be staying standard but then it can still have problems lol
I'm gutted for you mate but hope its not as bad as you think fingers crossed and I'm sure everyone else has them crossed too
If I can help you in anyway just let me know

I have three choices in front of me now, I have some serious thinking to do:
1. Enginetuner 2.1 engine build, drive in and drive out - fully mapped and ready for the road.
2. Break the car and sell off as much as possible (obviously not the engine).
3. Sell the car as is and let someone else sort out the engine issue.
To say I am cheesed off is an understatement.

A little message to those who will have a wry smile on their faces upon reading these latest posts please remember that I said all along that this engine was on borrowed time.
True I was hoping to get this summer out of the way before deciding what to do with the car next BUT as I have said all along the sum of the components should allow a far better result than what I have ended up with.
So to those that believe that 'maybe he's (as in me) a liar' remember that this engine lasted just about 500 miles after the mapping session, so the end result of 502.3bhp (on methanol remember not on straight pump fuel) isn't quite as great as some painted it to be.

Yes don't break it mate I'm sure there are other options to take as its such a nice car, personally myself but this is me I would sell all the trick bits and get a standard spec c engine built back in it and leave it as a Subaru spec c was intended to be built with just light tuning mod
I know people are saying to have it built by a good company but running big bhp you must expect that no matter how good a build it can still let go at any time as the engine was not made to run such big power through a little 2ltr
If it was back as a spec c should be it would also be easier to sell in the future

Gutted to hear this Ty, When you showed some pictures of the previous work I had a horrible feeling it wouldn't last long on that bigger turbo.
I'm a firm believer in using one of the top boys when it comes to engine rebuilds. Thats what they do, day after day and know everything inside and out.
Park it up and leave it for a while, Mule over the options and then progress with what YOU want to do
