I would thought that they know by now that you don't mess with the Israelis, they have demonstrated well enough in the past that they are not slow with a significant response to that sort of behaviour.

Can they be blamed for shooting back!

Keep everyone running scared.
It was an intentional mistranslation of him speaking about the "peace agreement map" that Israel had to adhere to but then broke the treaty.

All leaders are mad, this is a given. I mean look at how he lives, he sleeps on floor like everyone else, eats with the people, sacked all the cronies that were eating money out of the governing office and relinquished a load of departments that were acting as choking points. Then he had the audacity to recoup so much lost money and put it to good use (I know, crazy right!). And if that wasn't enough, he had the cheek to tell people the truth...

Oooo Scarry Hamas charter. Muslamic terrorist and all. What Hamas need are a few reinforcements from Hezbollah to even out the impact a little.

Or alternatively they could all see some common ground and make friends :-)

I'm sure the pro-Hamas posters like Hodgy will find some value in this.

On this subject?
I know a damn sight more about this than you'd ever think, and more than I'd ever let on, but I have more important things to expend my energy and resources on right now.

We all need to live, life is a struggle right now for most, some of us get a shorter straw than others and mine is quite short at the moment...as guess is yours.

I am not discounting you know a great deal about him, I was being sarcastic - he is an educated leader and one that has done a great deal for his country even if he is portrayed as demon by the west.

In 20 years time we'll look back and wonder how it was that we in the West stood by and watched and supported a 21st century re-run of apartheid in the Israel/Palestine conflict.

Time is running out for Israel:

The changing ethnic breakdown in the USA means that soon Israel will no longer be able to rely on a US presidency beholden to the US Jewish lobby to continually side with Israel and delay progress towards a long-term two state solution.

It's siege and sea blockade of Gaza is losing it its few Middle East friends like Turkey and Eygpt.

Hamas' 'small' rockets from Gaza can now reach Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

The balance of power in the Middle East is shifting and Iran will shortly have nuclear weapons (it can be delayed but can't be stopped) and Israel will have to readjust it's relationship with its neighbours.

TV pictures of Palestine children with shrapnel wounds lying in ill-equipped, sweaty hospitals continue to erode what little support it has left in the wider world.

However I'm not going to hold my breath for change while Netanyahu (the little **** who's threathening to start World War 3) is in power.

One possibility...
- The bigger Hammas rockets are built and supplied by Iran.
- Sooner or later Israel may feel bound to strike at Iran.
- If Israel strikes at Iran, Hammas would react by supporting Iran.

In my scenario, Israel causes Hammas to reduce its supply of rockets by provoking them now. Israeli casualties caused by Iranian made weapons is likely to soften any movement against striking at Iran.

Personally, I don't believe Iran needs a nuke to worry Israel. A dirty bomb/warhead would have a similar effect, given how small Israel is.

Israel knows it cannot attack Iran with impunity.

Though (as you can read in earlier posts) it has succeeded in getting across the message to the Israeli electorate and the world that it can and would.

Israel’s even gone as far as very publicly releasing details of its ‘what if we strike first?’ war game studies (Israel wins in its scenarios, of course). Hardly the way you’d plan a genuine pre-emptive surprise attack; just rattling its sabre and ramping up of the threat again.

What few seem to have noticed is that Iran’s response has been quiet but clear and much more frightening. The word from Tehran is: if attacked Iran would scarcely bother with Israel. Instead it would deliver its response in the bigger, easier and more hysterical target of the USA.

This ups the pressure on America to keep Netanyahu in line.

So, no Israeli attack on Iran. Instead, Tehran gets its bomb (sanctions, currency manipulation and viruses permitting).

No-one really needs a nuke apart from:
- Britain (to keep our place on the Security Council),
- USA (used ‘em twice so they know there’s a remote threat that someone else might use one against them)
- China (“We’re a super power”)
- India (‘cos Pakistan’s got one)
- Pakistan (‘cos India’s got one)
- Israel (“We’re surrounded by enemies who want to push us into the sea just ‘cos we’ve pushed them into the sea”)
- North Korea (“We’re the baddest badass on the planet”)
- France (‘cos, er, er…)

As Russia and its belligerent leader showed us in Chechnya, you can just as easily raze a whole country to rubble with conventional weapons. Plus, there’s no nuclear fallout risk and no-one in the world bats an eyelid.

Iran just needs the bomb to confirm her place as the other regional superpower to Israel now that the US and Britain so kindly disposed of Saddam and the Iraqi threat.

Oh, and to have the *****-waving kudos of being the keepers of the Arab bomb (well Persian, really).

thats just crap, the casualties speak for themselves.. yeah israel flies over dropping leaflets telling them to move outta the areas etc. thats a loada rubbish where are they meant to go?

Gaza is roughly around 25mile long by 6miles? with a population of nearly 2 million. It is the most densely populated area in the world! There are are no bunkers, or safe places for Palestinians in Gaza to take cover when Israeli bombs drop.

Over 50 per cent of Gaza’s population are children under the age of 16!

Some facts about Gaza..

Between 2009 (after Operation Cast Lead) and 2012 (before Pillar of Defence) Israel killed 271 Palestinians in Gaza. During this period 3 Israelis also died.

David Cameron on 10 July 2010 referred to Gaza as a "prison camp" and "some sort of open-air prison".

Israel has held an iron fist siege around Gaza from land, air and sea since 2000. Since the withdrawal of its troops and settlers from the Strip in 2005, Israel continues to control Gaza’s airspace, territorial waters and border crossings. Thus, it is defacto still occupying Gaza.

The Gaza crossing with Egypt (Rafah) is operated under strict Oslo Accords. It is monitored by the EU, and restricts movement of goods and is only open to people and specified goods. The tunnels dug by Palestinians beneath the border with Egypt provide the only avenue for the import of materials for building and other essentials including food and medicines, and even livestock.

Since Palestinians elected Hamas as their government in 2006 the siege has intensified and most international lawyers, as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), consider the blockade to be illegal under international humanitarian law. In 2009, a UN panel, led by distinguished South African judge and self-confessed Zionist Richard Goldstone, accused Israel of imposing "a blockade which amounted to collective punishment".

In 2006, Dov Weissglass, the then chief of staff to Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon summed up his government's approach to Gaza and its residents when he confessed: "The idea is to put the Palestinians on a diet, but not to make them die of hunger." ‘Red Lines’: The official Israeli document for food consumption in Gaza under siege shows how Israeli officials worked out that they must allow only 2,279 calories per person to be imported into Gaza to avoid total starvation.

Over 50 per cent of Gaza’s population are children under the age of 16. Some 10% of children under five in the Gaza Strip have stunted growth due to prolonged malnutrition. The unemployment rate in Gaza is 40% - and stands at 58% among young people.

On 18 November 2012, the World Health Organisation warned of "severe shortages" in medical facilities in Gaza with some medicines running out.

Israel has given varied reasons for its attack on Gaza. Ehud Barack said it was to boost Israeli “deterrence”; while Israeli deputy prime minister, Eli Yishai, said: "The goal of the operation is to send Gaza back to the Middle Ages. Only then will Israel be calm for forty years." And the Chief Rabbi in England was caught on air stating that the Gaza attack actually ‘had something to do with Iran.’

I agree with your point about Hamas, while Israel probably does not directly target civilians they could not care less if they take out a few whilst playing with Hamas.
