Rear strut rust

Hi, was running some wiring along to the boot in my Blobeye yesterday and when peeling back the covering in the back found out that the struts have rusted from the inside out!
Looks like moisture gets trapped in the factory nvh covering and then goes to work on the interior metal, the outside wheel well cosmetically looks fine and the rest of the car is pretty mint rust wise with none on the sills or arches and has relatively low mileage for the age so was very surprised/mortified to find this.
The passenger side is in even worse condition with the rust going all the way up the strut and poking with a screwdriver went straight through.
Was wondering if anyone produces repair panels/strut towers?
Cutting ones out of a breaker is a gamble with cars of this age, rang around for a couple of welding quotes and initially got some around £400 per side but no one seems to want to touch it after I sent them pics.
Cheers.

Hi Alex, did you get sorted? The guy who did mine is a Scooby owner himself, so knows 'em. Before he'd agree to doing mine, I had to email him pics of the rot, which I took from inside the wheel arch..using a voice operated camera. He's got a garage in Wigston, Leics, I see you're not THAT far away...depends if you can get anyone local to you. I had to completely strip out the rear. Its one way of getting to know your car.
btw, I see Lidl are doing a plasma cutter this week...might be useful for cutting out the rot.

Wasn't cost effective to pay someone to repair (got a couple of quotes of over £2k) so got a cheap welder so ended up sorting it myself, it's not pretty but should keep it on the road for a few more years.

Not alone.
Add me to the list. Small bubble on rear arches since bought my '07 Hawkeye last year. I knew there were a few spots underneath didnt look great around rear of rear arch corners, and spent Saturday morning with a big screwdriver, scraper, wire brush and a bottle of ospho.
Small holes in rear liner on one side, and generally big plate rust fell off inside of the towers and inside of reararear arxhes alongtalong with the factory paint/underseal. Really looks like a crap effort at the factory and/or low grade metal. Car is otherwise fantastic, so just having a bit of a toss up as to what I do with it.
At least towers aren't rotted through, but dont see them lasting too much longer, even if I treat and paint now.
Crap pics but you can see the rot
Out of interest anyone also know what the colour code for these springs says?

Pictures aren't really doing it justice... Inside of the rear quarters are through in a few spots and the plate rust that dropped was quite subsrantial.
Decided gonna treat and re-ospho it again, and today bought some maritime / tropical red primer and a tin of heavy antirust to throw on top after. There's a lot of the rear underneath is bad. I did the same to my old Toyota and still holding 5 yrs later, so hopefully be enough, but the small holes already there are def worrying.

Hi nicam49. My classic has just failed its MOT due to excessive rust on the rear offside suspension mount.
I see that you had yours done by a fellow scooby owner in Wigston. I live a couple of miles away and was hoping that
you could put me in touch with him if you think he could help me out.

Thanks nicam49. I took it to him but he wouldn't even look at it.
I appreciate him being straight with me and he's given me the name of a local welder who is now
going to do the job next week at a very good price.

The old girl lives on for another year !
Paid £250 to get some plates welded in to replace the rust.
Can't comment on the quality but it went through an MOT yesterday.
Hi Jonny, sorry but I've only just seen your post.
The chap I used is Josh who works from home at Welderbody at 69 West Avenue.
Phone number is 07827 477240 or he won't mind if you just drop in.
He's a helpful bloke but as I said above I can't comment on the quality.
