It's just the way i am i suppose, I have always been a fan of body art and when the time came i chose somthing that means a lot to me (my family)

You sure you haven't got a self-portrait tattooed on your ****?

The Miley cyrus guy... errr, wow. His poor kids! Clearly got mental problems, probably from the family breakdown.

Have to say, this lot aren't painting a positive picture, but to be fair, I think they have chosen people with issues.

It's a 'certain type' that have tattoos - either:-

1. Stupid
2. Thick
3. Simple

or, of course, all three!!

All joking aside, does orthodox psychology offer any explanation as to what makes people get tattoos, particularly the larger or less-easily concealed variety?

There must be some mental issue which makes people do it ...... it's going to go out of fashion in a while and then it will be so ashaming.

Hmm, I have an IQ of 143. I also have tattoos. I am neither Stupid, Thick nor Simple. I designed all my own tattoos. As an artist I appreciate the vast array of designs adorning the bodies of those who become living canvases. I admit there are those who I seriously believe have issues. Facial tattoos are something I will never understand. Accusing all tattooed people of being stupid, thick or simple is a generalization that in itself indicates a serious lack of intellect.

pete cmon, you really so shallow as to judge a person by there decision to get a tatoo?

many are done by youngsters in an "experimantal/half rebelious statement. but its hardly conclusive proof of a persons potential having a tatoo!!

no surprise a tv documentary concetrates on a minority who appear a bit daft/dysfunctional. but pete are you really saying you beleive what you see on a sensationalist TV production designed to generate veiwng figures alone to be gospel and reflect the truth?? now its sounds like your the susceptible fool tbh mate.

ok we get you dont like tatoos, so what? dont pay them any attention then - its hardly as if they impose on anyone.

FWIW some tatoos are total sh*t imo, others i like very much indeed, decent art work i can look at with appreciation of the design, without me making the assumption the bearer is a halfwit and no use in society.

pete are you not prepaired to give people a chance to expose qualities, but just dismiss them as fools instantly? assumption is the mother of all f*ck ups!!

That programme did tattooed people no favours whatsoever. To a tee, they all had deep psychological and/or behavioural problems/histories.

There has to be some inner need to express on the outside what's crying to come out from the inside, or something like that, dunno.

Magepaster, when/where did you get your IQ tested?

It was a screening test run by the Tattoo Parlour ....... he was given a jigsaw which had 2-4 years written on the box, he completed it in 6 hours - which was far quicker than anyone else visiting there had achieved, hence the high marking.

At least back then he was (on occasion anyway), slightly entertaining...he never used to fall back on base insults. Boring now without exception, just like the number of sheep getting tattooed because it’s fashionable.

Look forward to watching this programme at some point this weekend, will be interesting to see how the directors has decided to portray people with tattoos.
