My Tattoo Addiction ......

.... not me, of course - I have something between my ears!!

But, Channel 4 at 10pm tonight .... could be interesting viewing for our Tattoo sporting friends .........

Documentary revealing what people's body art says about them, whether the result of a drunken dare, an expression of their individuality or a way of telling the world who their favourite pop star is.

The film also hears about people who have come to regret their tattoos, including the stories of Dorne Williams and Austin Scott, while artists reveal how a substantial amount of their business is fixing badly inked or self-administered adornments.

Lewis, for your own peace of mind I would get PLEASE RESCUSCITATE inked on your chest as you could so easily be mistaken for some old git that should be put down :) dl

It is funny how Tats have gone so mainstream, a guy at work has just got Leila from Futurama all over his arm, it looks crap really. Tats used to be a good measure of someone being a bit edgy, maybe ex Marine, a Hells angel or properly mental but now it seems to be every hipster has them, it seems to be part of a "cool by numbers" thing, just another thing to tick off the list.

I have seen people recently that have very recent looking tats all over them, like they got carried away, I think the shows on Sky have opened it up a bit, Miami ink etc but most look pretty crap to be honest, there was a guy on holiday that had a badly drawn scoob and Las Vegas sign on his back, this **** is permanent, make it at least not look like a 15 year olds notebook. It is like private plates, most are gash, very few are cool, funny or impressive, you need the body to carry it off as well.

I am not against tattoos, just against regret and doing something because everyone else has, will you still love that cartoon picture in twenty years ?

I reckon investing in tat removal is a good investment right now, there will be a lot of people wanting rid in the next few years.

pslewis 18 October 2012 07:56 PM

I agree ...... once it was claimed that getting a Tattoo was an individual statement, now it is merely following like sheep ..... which is rather sad and pathetic really.

Hey-Ho ... those Tatts are going to look even worse when the wearer is 35 and older ... when the children/grandchildren ask, "Why did you do a silly drawing on your body?" What will you say then?

cster 18 October 2012 07:57 PM

Fascinating.

Don't let him bait you....!

You do know that Lewis is into piercings?

He hates tattoos, but apparently has a couple of rings stuck through his clitoris.

If there was a name for this stupidity in 1938 when I was born then, I guess, it would have been 'CHAVVIE' ...... and I, for one, would have thought my Dad a right tw4t in his younger years had he had PETE Tattooed on his body - come on, what a chavvie thing to do!

In my defence, the day I posted that I was in lots of pain from having a big thrush tattooed on my inner thigh, and a double Prince Albert fitted.

You'll be old like me sometime and then. sadly, you will look at the wrinkled old names and weep from the whole pointlessness of it ....... you will have grown up then, of course, and realise how silly you were (and you thought you looked so, so, so cool)!

It's sad that only time will snap you to your senses ... I would be amazed to know why you think it's somehow 'respectful and honourable' to have loved ones names tattooed on your body - I never felt that I needed that to show my love for those in my life.

I can only assume that you must feel that you need to prove yourself because you maybe fail in other areas? Just a thought?

Addi, rather than just a smiley, and because this is the only subject in the Universe where i have one iota of empathy for deluded Lewis's opinion, can you explain why exactly you have the names of your family tattooed on you? Do they not realise how much you love them? What does a tattoo do that you cannot via words? Genuinely curious.

chocolate_o_brian 18 October 2012 09:29 PM

Pete, do you still regret getting your tattoo?
