Most other people their are driving their pride and joy too and don't want to crash either.
Also the companies which run track days don't want innocent drivers taken off track by incompetent drivers, not good for repeat business or word of mouth recommendations.

TRAX isn't like an other track only event.

who remembers this.. going back about 10years now though

It was when the SIDC was so big it could book track sessions just for subaru's... there was the new comers/novice track time then experienced track time session.

The P1 came off on the first corner after the pit straight.. thing was the it was just into the 1st lap after the pace car had pulled in. I saw the P1 over take everything on the starting grid.. next minute the RED flag was out. I know of a few who were in that session and were fuming as they only got one lap in.. behind the pace car.

I had that magazine!

That 993 Turbo would have been worth a few £££ these days

'Twas a good day !

I had more actual "fun" in a bog standard car with tired suspension, than I did in mapped, Tein'd, R888,d AP equip'd STI... that was fast enough to get into real trouble...

P.S. Back then the WYIOC used Blyton with a six car limit, worst I did was clip a cone and rip a wheel arch liner off the front driver's side... funniest was a 70+mph spin at a chicane (damp kerbs !) passenger was well impressed as I calmly waited for 180 degrees and then hit the brakes LOL

this is why you have track day insurance.
if only he had spent the sticker money on brakes or suspension.............

I've done a few track days in my Scoob (my ultimate pride & joy) yes you run the massive risk of this happening but we built it for track/drag among other things so it seems a shame not to use it!
Every time I go out I prepare myself for the worst, and try and steer clear of the gym class heroes like a black Saxo at Trax on Sunday who just continued to block me & wouldn't let me pass him. He came into a corner way too fast and spun out right by me, luckily it was part of the track I could come off and get around him.
Some shocking driving at Trax all day to be honest!

Why are we assuming that brakes and suspension are the issue? (a stock WRX is capable of going round a track without crashing)

Much more likely that they were just driving like a bell-end thinking that the knew the track "'coz they has played it on Forza and they is well quick, innit".... happens all the time at the 'Ring on TF days which, let's face it, is pretty much what the Trax sessions equated too.

Stupidity + damp track = totalled Impreza.

I feel sorry for whoever's car it was because it's a tough lesson to learn but I don't have a lot of sympathy (unless of course he crashed avoiding some other bell-end).... the vast majority of people went round without incident, so no reason this chap could not have done either.

+1.

You could get a Yugo with drum brakes round a track without crashing so long as you drive within the limits of yourself and the car. You won't get an ego massage by being the fastest car out there but equally, you won't have your ego kicked in the nuts by putting it in the armco.
