Did not see the accident, but the car looked like it was a hard impact as the front end was twisted and both air bag had gorn off. Hope the driver was ok.

Also parked up was a M3

Dirk Diggler 75 02 September 2012 10:25 PM

Shame .......

dirtybarry 02 September 2012 10:37 PM

sad sight to see

AdeWRX 02 September 2012 10:41 PM

Shame, the Scooby looked quite nice. Hope the drivers were ok.

Rob Day 02 September 2012 10:48 PM

Are they standard wrx Subaru brakes on track (eeek).

I'd say it was a £3000 Blobeye WRX

Hope the driver(s) were in hurt though.

Rob

salsa-king 03 September 2012 07:16 AM

I've some shots of it on track.. not crashed... then saw the car parked up as we were leaving :(

chief-long-shin 03 September 2012 07:43 AM

£3000 blob eye or not is it not someones pride and joy still? :pchit:

Hope the driver is unhurt.

tubbytommy 03 September 2012 07:54 AM

ouch looks like a right off.
standard wrx brakes and suspension are not a good idea on a track.
ruined those lovely stickers too...

Dan- 03 September 2012 08:21 AM

Not good! Hope the driver was ok!

Myles 03 September 2012 08:49 AM

....and there is the reason I don't track my car. I couldn't afford to put it back together after that. Shame for the owners.

he may have has insurance for the track though.
if you have this its not so risky if you dont you run the risk of the getting the bill for above which is most likely a total loss.

but considering the ammount of cars on track yesterday there were very few incidents

cookstar 03 September 2012 09:50 AM

Not nice. :(

I do hope you have the owners permission to post images though?.

Car was on public display - no need for permission.

Saw the BMW go round Woodcote and said to my wife that I wouldn't be surprised if he crashed it with the way he was driving (damp track, pushing too hard) - he nearly lost it at Woodcote TBH.

There's no need to push it hard enough to crash it on a pay and play session as per Trax yesterday, especially when the conditions aren't 100% - just asking for trouble. Ambition > Ability, me thinks.

Oh, and for the record, stock suspension and brakes are fine on track - they certainly don't guarantee a crash... so long as you drive within the limits of them! :)

I wonder if any insurance companies have ran the reg thru to see if it`s one of theirs ?

The Pink Ninja 03 September 2012 10:42 AM

Ouch, Looks a bit like my last one ended up and I had BIG brakes and decent suspension.

He will certainly be feeling it today, Feel for the guy.

trevsjwood 03 September 2012 02:01 PM

this was in a novice session I was in.

True, but showing the registration number serves no purpose and might cause a lot of unnecessary grief for someone.

I should think that's the last of his concerns right now.

Yes but I would sooner replace a £3k car then a £12k cat! As said I hope the driver is ok. The car can be easily replaced.

That's my thoughts too. I've had standard 4 pots and even with a good combo disc/pad they aren't the best for "track".

Anyone can crash, me included (twice), however a better kitted out car has more chance of becoming unstuck than something that hasn't. My point is the driver may have underestimated the ability of the brakes, ther not exactly the best putting it mildly.

Anyway I'll **** up now being a non Subaru owner :D

Gigsy 03 September 2012 03:50 PM

I didn't see the accident, but what I did see was the BMW driver thinking he could drift when he really couldn't.

Hopefully the two incidents were separate and it wasn't caused by on or other doing something stupid such as the BMW losing control and the Subaru driver having to take avoiding action / hitting the back of the BMW because of it.

Did anyone on here see the accident?

the cars werent in the same session.

they were a couple of hours apart, but the track was damp when the beemer crashed.
i saw it being trailered off but not the crash.

urban 03 September 2012 04:00 PM

OK, the car is wrecked anyway.

But.....is it a good idea to pick a car up by the wheels?

In some ways that's a relief... bad enough messing up your own car, even worse if it was someone else's fault.

We saw the BMW getting very untidy round Woodcote a couple of times.

In any case, if you're going to push that hard on that kind of track session (i.e. where there are likely to be a fair few 7 second heros, plus in front of a crowd :)), you really are asking for trouble! :)

exactly, i didnt say this had caused his accident as i didnt see it.
i was speaking from experience like rob having had standard wrxs i know the brakes fade fast when under heavy track use and the suspension is also not really for the track.

scoobyken 03 September 2012 04:09 PM

There was another guy in a new black M3 doing the same thing, driving like an idiot n nearly causing others to crash.. These ppl should be banned from driving on the track!

it goes really well on the road, but on the track you realise you maybe should have saved more for an sti lol
