Sums up the Olympics
#31
It was a kid gently pedalling a bicycle it hardly had the makings of a terror threat and to be honest 1 guy stood in the crowd detonating a claymore type device could easy take out the torch bearer the security team and a load else besides. I don't have a chip on my shoulder I just despise the corporate Olympics, I despise the fact that terrorism ,that was largely caused by our politicians, is being used as an excuse to icreate a Police state.

So - It's a clear message to the Voters / Taxpayers in the UK.
Do as you are told or get battered.
Fair enough.
Now please kick the living **** out of people who are here with the sole purpose of causing harm - and, if appropriate, stick them on the first transport out of the country.

Unbelievable, if that had been the Queen or Prime Minister, you would all have been singing his praises, but because you don't support the Olympics suddenly it's way over the top and they are thugs!
His job is to protect whoever is carrying the torch (from commoner to 'big wig') and all he would have seen was someone on a bike enter from his rear left. He doesn't have to time to ascertain whether it's a young boy who is probably excited or a terrorist with C4 strapped to him.
He acted in the absolute correct manner. It's not as if they kicked the **** out of him afterwards, it's obvious once he has been tackled they realise it's just a young lad.

And I am sure a bomb in a watchers backpack 10 foot away on the pavement will cause just as much carnage as one kid 6 foot away on a bike. Do they clear the pavement?

I was pretty shocked. Just a kid on a BMX cycling on a road and he gets manhandled and dumped on the floor by a police man.
I think I'll establish a 6 foot security bubble around myself today. Anyone entering will be punched in the face.

Eh? No he hasn't, what utter rubbish.
Absolutely, but history shows plenty of people breaking from the crowd to assassinate when they would have stood a better chance not doing so.

Terrorism is the new Global Warming. Essentially, it hardly exists at all
Trawl my posts, I made the same claim about GW in like 2002 and some 10-years later there is a growing belief/slowly becoming accepted that mans influence on GW is made up for control and money making purposes.
I'm making the same call now. In 5-10 years time "Terrorism" will be used to control and tax you to death.

I do agree however that the enormous sums of money spent on opening and closing ceremonies in an effort to outdo other countries is a shameful waste.

So the fear of protesters means everyone gets treated like a criminal unless you are some kind of Fat-cat at which point your company gets a bucket load of preferential laws made up to protect you and your brand ?

And what about this?

I say they should have been taken down with extreme prejudice. And really the officer who ushered them away should be sacked for the way he dealt with it. Scratch that, all children entering the bubble should be shot by anonymous snipers in balaclava's.

In recent times it certainly appears that the police are inclined to over react to an incident. Common sense seems to be out of the window now.
At some incidents where the armed police have been called out it almost looks as though they are looking for a chance to kill someone. Its a bit of a worry I think.

Do you seriously believe that all the torchbearers are "corporate fat-cats"? Most of them are unsung community heroes. There are 8,000 altogether and whilst some of them are celebs and sports stars, for most of them it's a once in a lifetime opportunity and they don't want it ruined by a teenager on a BMX, a streaker, an Olympics-hating protester or an actual terrorist.

Not all but far too many, when a young athlete is denied his chance so a director of some company linked with the games gets to carry the Torch it is another example of what this is really about. It is indicative of the way our population has let itself become ruled by fat cats and bankers who operate outside and above the law.

Normally your posts are measured in their content but that's OTT
Typical armchair warrior comment, I'd have expected something like that from the Police hating trolls that populate Scoobynet but not you.
Do you not realise exactly how much scrutiny is on Police these days.
