Hi, wasn't sure where to post. I've just bought myself a Subaru Legacy Turbo powered VW Beetle and wanted to introduce myself (at the risk of being flamed )
I'm new to the world of turbo's, ECU's and performance engines in general so I'm likely to be asking lots of potentially stupid questions.
The car I have bought has been highly tuned and set-up for drag racing and one of the first things I want to know is can it be de-tuned via remapping to give me something slightly more driveable, and can I retain the current map to switch back to should I ever want to go drag racing?
thanks in advance,
Steph aka CosmicSheep

Let's have some pics

Mapping wise you can have 2maps enabled via switch
Please pick your mapper after checking out how they perform taking into account if they are local yo you and actually based in one place were you can reach them without frustrating and fruitless phone calls, or the dodgy ones that ponder about-here and there gettting work through other garages so you're going through a 3rd person!! and then messing customers cars up then customers waiting over 4months for the problem to be solved in some cases!!
fortunately for me I have a local based mapper who is very informative and easy to get hold of and always answers his phone
Not trying to scare you but just making aware there are a lot of bad stories and even worse mappers that are arrogant and ignorant that shouldn't be given time of day
Just my 20p's worth

Not road legal yet, but that's what I'm working towards. Got the headlamp bowls to graft in, and wipers etc to fit.
My first job has been to tidy up some of the dodgy wiring. I've managed to separate the Scooby loom from the Beetle one except for a couple of places where they join.
Next job is to add a second fuseboard for the aftermarket switches to the rad and water pump.
