OE STI TMIC will be good enough for your needs,but if I would go I would go with HDi or Japspeed FMIC

About the TMIC,speak to Chevron about their TMIC,but they're expensive and not sure if this worth

at 400 there will be gains on a front mount in peak and also reliability by going front mount to prevent heat soak. gains start from around 300.

 

Tmic on eBay. The japspeed ones new are £150

 

FMIC will have good effect at 400bhp,not sure if I would brother at 300bhp New age,you will loose like you will gain at this level

nope has been tested and proven to make an improvment if setup correctly.

 

Really you should stick with yours current TMIC and invest those money into turbo blanket and some other bits,which can prevent from heatsoak

Not if you've any sense.

Have a word with Ian at Godspeed and go for his grooved discs, no drillings.

He will explain why.

 

i have run the standard v6 sti maff sensor at abour 430/450bhp with no problems, but now i run a newage maff sensor on my classic

 

Drilled discs can crack well easy n not a fan. Grooved ftw

 

You need to be running a speed density ecu at that level really matey so no maf required.

 

back to the tmic, the sti ones out perform most of the expensive branded tmics, some guy did a test with a charge temp gauge, you need one if youre staying tmic. a cheapo japspeed one isnt going to be better than the sti one guaranteed, even if its the size of a house.

Your ECU can run SD(Speed Density),contact Open Source mappers and ask them

was running over 400 bhp for about a year on standard maff, and only changed as was having a map tweek for a new air filter and it made sence to have a newage maff just incase as they are stronger

 

To answer some of your questions :
1. With the right supporting mods and properly mapped with Ecutek your MAF will support 400 bhp and beyond.

I actually have an aluminium MAF tube of bigger diameter, which will take your MAF sensor and give you a lot more headroom. It takes your existing MAF sensor and is complete with K+N filter, jubilee clip etc. £115. All brand new.

2. The SC46 7cm is certainly not a laggy turbo easily capable of 450 bhp on V-Power with all supporting mods and typically making 1 bar at 3300 rpm in 4th. (The supporting mods are important). The SC46 8cm spools later on a 2 litre but is ideally suited to a 2.5 litre.

3. It is unlikely you are getting much gain from the existing TMIC. I have found that the move from an STi 8/9 TMIC to an efficient Hybrid FMIC becomes worthwhile around 380 bhp. In a specific example I gained 9 bhp from the swap STi 8 TMIC to Hybrid FMIC and a further 9 bhp from mapping. Not only is the charge temperature important, 10 deg. C = 3% power but the pressure drop across the core is also important.

It is important you have the right supporting mods to get the best from your map or you will need a further remap when you make additional changes and you should think carefully about headers and uppipe.
