Anyone owned a skyline, what they like?

The funny thing is that , every track day I've been , a 350 scoob could outhandle 450 brake skyline. I know the driver is the most important thing in this case but still . I think their a bit to lazy/big for Uk winding roads. Nevertherless it's an JDM icon that's for sure.
Yes I do find GT cars in general a bit much for the UK. I liked my GTST but a bit too much for the UK with our ****e and winding roads.
Careful buying any modded Skyline. Some great ones about but lots of messed up ones.

A GTR? I don't think so (like for like mods) unless you are talking about doing tarmac rally type tracks. On a proper track that GTR's have immense grip, much more than scoobs and better weight distribution.

I've had two R33GTS's and a R32 GTR. They are awesome cars, will get one again when the kids grow up and I don't need four doors. The Scoob is by far the most most practical compromise if you don't want to end up in a Mondeo.

i had a r33 gtst, mines ecu, blitz nurspec, front mount, made 330bhp before i melted piston 6. was a nice solid car be carefull in the wet cos they will bite.
also had 1 of these
r32 gtst, hks exhaust turbo back, mines ecu, 280bhp, again a nice solid motor, look out for rust, rust and more rust, rear arches main place, all ceramic turbos are weak over 0.85 bar and make sure its mapped properly and bottom ends are fairly strong. my r33 gtst used to give upto 35mpg on a run and driven sensible around 25 round town

Yup , GTRs also. I'm speaking in general Tony, I'm pretty sure skybuses would be more capable on longer tidier tracks , but not that I've ever seen it in Uk. I'm a fan of best motoring , but that's another league. Uk scoob and evo enthusiasts always show heels to skyline drivers . It's just my experience . There many exceptions comparing like for like etc, that doesn't fit in what I saw obviously. I saw more skylines on a show stands than tracked scoobs and evos.

Here is my old GTR, engine felt bullet proof, i loved the look of the car, sadly mine was a stolem import, so if you decide to look at skylines especially GTR's be careful.

Mine was 399 bhp, I remember to get the power more was gonna be very expensive, I had filter, exhaust and raised boost, but the next stage was ££££. It was quick but didn't push you back in the seat kind of quick

I owned an R33 GTR for 4 years, sadly sold it last year
Mine was running only 1 bar on standard ceramic turbos, 360 bhp at the hubs (430ish at the fly?), but on the 1/4 mile it ran a best time of 11.76 seconds (at 116mph), with a 1.64 0-60ft, which is not to be sniffed at.
My Skyline was the best car I've owned, bar none. If funds allowed I'd have another, but not for everyday driving, it's too big, too thristy and too special for that.

I currently own a R33 GTR after having many subaru's in the past.
http://www.lancerregister.com/showth...hlight=skyline - This is my current GTR.
Comparing my classic V5 Type R subaru with the GTR is like comparing chalk and cheese guys.
From my experience, owning and maintiaing a GTR is quite a bit more expensive than a subaru as there seems to be some sort of "GTR" tax applied to things.
Out of the box as a standard car they both have bad and good points. The GTR delivers really good usable power with fairly long gearing, personally in standard form the Subaru was far more fun on the B roads as it's a far smaller and lighter car to handle. Bad points for me was the impreza's brakes (subaru 4pot) are pretty poor at stopping even the standard car. As for the GTR, the HICAS system on there is only fit for the bin !
As for which is quicker, it totally depends on mods/driver/power really. My current skyline has quite a lot of handling changes and this together with 650bhp output means it is very hard for anything else to keep up really, but saying that it wasn't cheap to get the car like that.
Any questions on them, feel free to ask, happy to share experiences.
Also looking for a nice 2 door widebody classic, if you know of any going ?

Just sold my widearched type r for a r32gtr with 510 bhp and I love it, lot more comfortable to drive, you don't feel the need to be on boost all the time it go's like stink, if you service them and maintain them properly, they won't cost anymore than any other jap performance car, parts can be on the dearer side but shop around and you'll find things at decent prices.. A lot of people. Say to go for the gtst more fun being rear wheels, good solid engines and cheaper to run, I'd say go for it

i didn't think it cost anymore to run than the subaru, and i would have another especially my old one!! Sold it to buy a bigger house that we didn't need!!!
