Meth. What, where, why and how? I need educating.
It is higher octane but is less potent than petrol. Methanol is more resistant to detonation but you need more of it to yield the same power as petrol. This is the issue when swapping maps, the V Power map will have a different fuel ratio than the V Power+methanol map. If there isn't enough fuel then the mixture will lean out and the results not good. Theoretically you could run just methanol and indeed Andy F. has, the only issue is getting enough of it in to the engine. Whilst there are all these fancy additives petrol is still the king when it comes to power to weight ratio yields.

Anyone know if my 2003 JDM Spec C can have a dual map put on the ecutek software?
Can it have the megr0m version? and does this have dual map capability?
To answer my own question, i've had this confirmed.

If youve got 10l of straight fuel left, and you stick 40l of fuel and 10l (20%) of meths in on top ..... the mix will become about 17%
If youve got 10l of 20% meths in, and you stick 50l of straight fuel ontop, that tank becomes a 3% meths mix.
I know syvecs is pretty on it with control when it comes to slight variations of fuel and switchable maps etc, but how do more common ecus like esl and apexi for example cope????

ESL has two completely independent maps (not offsets) and OEM knock control so you can use two completely different fuels.
My wagon on ESL and 20% meth made 482hp at RCMS, IMHO it is absolutely the cheapest way to more hp if you don't mind the fill up faff.
