Peroni vs Stella
I used to drink 10 pints every night, sometimes more i felt really in the mood...
Jacko.... I find your statement unusual for a clever chap that you are... I know a LOT about beer DUE to the amount i have drank over the years..
If someone was drinking 3 "cans" a night i wouldnt even consider there opinion.
Firstly your not drinking enough, your pallet changes as you drink more, even over the period of a night your taste changes dramatically... I would still consider 3 pints an "entree"..
Secondly... your drinking out of cans..
I dont drink anything like what i did 10 years ago.. I would have thought i was under my 21 units weekly allowance now.. I once did 3 gallons of Stella in a single sitting,i didnt feel very with it the next day though..
Happy (drunken) days!

m8 you must be a lightweight
quite some years back when we worked away 24/7 it was pub work pub and so on and 70 pints a week is easily done, some people have higher tolerences to beer like myself, the first 5 dont touch the sides and im pretty sure there will be a lot more than me on here who will say the same,.
the downside is its a dear night out,,,,,,,,

Maybe I am, have had three cans and half a bottle of wine and that is about the most I ever have, I am 6.1 and 17 ish stone, the most I can do in a night is about 8 pints and that is exceptional, it totally kills me so I dont, I am 41 now but I dont think I am any less capable, just not that daft.
70 pints a week is a serious health risk so nothing to be proud of not to mention a ridiculous amount of money to p!ss up the wall.
Most I ever managed in a night was 10 pints of Guinness on a works do then attempting to walk 4 miles home which didn't end up too well and lesson learnt.

Its never worth it when your liver gives up.
Les
Stella 4 - Well of course. It means less duty being paid by the Brewer and at pretty much the same till price = More profit to InBev
Remember most of these guys use pelleted hops as well. few brewers use hop flowers now, apart from some of the real ale brewers

Anyway not my £200-250 a week being spunked on booze you **** back out and you're not having my liver

Its not a ***** waving exercise, just a statement of fact...Something that is usually devoid in scoobynet banter..
It was a period of life when there was a large group of us that drank socially every night.. We all had jobs and enjoyed what we did at the time. Non of us do it now of course,we're all older, wiser and have responsibilties that stop that kind of behaviour..Have a damaged my liver?? I dunno,i only have a couple of wee's a day, there is no blood in it and i dont have a David Dickenson tint to my skin..
Yes... it cost a lot of money although beer or lager wasnt the ridiculous amount that it is now,and the money was disposable at the time....
Since then the mortgage got paid off before before my 39th birthday and i have a Porsche Carrera to drive to work in...
So.........SHOCK HORROR........Drinking lots of Stella didnt ruin my life, although im sure many of the scoobynet sewing circle would like it that way.......

When I was a university student, an easy night in the bar was probably at least 10 pints but 1) the beer was very cheap (£1 to £1.50 a pint) and 2) probably watered down. By the end of a term (about 10 weeks of heavy drinking learning), the only thing 10 pints did to you was make you **** a lot.
I don't mind the odd pint of lager, but much prefer a good bitter / ale. I had a pint of Vedett recently and that went down quite nicely, though I was somewhat alarmed when I looked it up on Wiki and found that it's pitched as a "trendy luxury lager".
Love the phrase "pub fit"

Ok, the taste test is on, four Stella and four Peroni purchased, Stella in cans and Peroni in bottles, going to do a blind test and get the missus to pour them (a first) will then report back with notes.
Yes it was...

) after the liver comment. Just reading your post, it did seem like a ***** waving thing but if you say it wasn't and it was just how it was then, then fair enough, I'll take you on your word Are you a contractor of sorts, IT etc? I ask as in my line of work the contractors who say work away all week on power stations or other Steelworks etc. have a work and drink mentality as there's basically nothing else to do when in digs or a hotel.
I'm only 27 but certainly couldn't knock back what I would when 18-20 and out every weekend.
Infact 8-10 years later I can go out round the local town for about 1/2 what I would have back in 2002-2004.And if I go to Leeds DJing or raving etc. it's not much more except for travel/train tickets. Mates of mine spend a fortune on disco biscuits to keep them going til 6-7am but a few redbulls does me ok

Actually, to the fellow ravers or retired ravers, when out dropping some moves, would it be a tankfull of beer or water that kept you going
Jacko.... If you cannot tell the difference,i urge you not to spend any more money on booze..
CoB......No not a contractor or IT.....Im a MV diagnostic engineer.
BTW iused to go out raving many many years ago..Probably 25 years ago thinking about it..
Ask me,did i ever ever take drugs or stimulants ??????? Yea of course i did!..

What's your name, what've you had, reach for the lasers, safe as ****!
Tonight is real-ale night for myself. I'll be having a pint or three of Harvest Pale.
Described by esteemed beer writer Roger Protz as… “The finest blond beer I’ve drunk in many a year”, Harvest Pale is brewed with a gently-kilned malt, and an aromatic blend of American hops added during the brewing process gives this 3.8% alc pale beer exceptional poise. Its distinct hop flavour leads to a crisp finish. Harvest Pale has firmly established itself as Castle Rock’s Flagship Beer. stella comes in two (totally different) versions
one is brewed in Leuven, Belgium by Stella Artios and is imported into the UK (in bottles not cans) - the bottles say brewed in Belgium and imported into the UK, and have a distinctive paper top
the other is a cynical marketing job and is brewed "under licence" by Whitbread Breweries in the UK -god knows where though, the bottles say brewed under licence in the UK
they taste totally different, imported stalla, proper stella, is a lovely lager, and the equal of Peroni, which is a quality drink too
Just hope that Whitbread Breweries don't start to brew Peroni "under licence" because they will ruin it
Imported -- and a quality lager
not worthy of the name -- and drinking out of cans is for idiots
i suspect you where comparing the "under licence" version

What they said.
UK (or Welsh brewed to be precise) Stella is shyte. Pretty certain they must pipe the urinals of the local welsh pubs straight into the UK Stella factory.
Belgium stuff is nice and palatable.
