Hawkeye WRX's show yourselves,

Thanks guys! been running it on tesco 99 since i got it, but still get the hesitation sometimes - I guess a remap is the way to go! Looking forward to it - will let you know how it goes; will be interesting to see how an almost standard one compares with the graph above. Thinking ScoobyClinic as the place to get it done as well; nowhere near me but if I can incorporate it into a trip to visit relatives that would work out nicely...
Already upgraded the brakes a bit, got grooved disks and kevlar fast road pads from Godspeed - that should be enough for me just now I reckon, good improvement over the standard setup I find

The std 4 pots are a good powerful caliper but do tend to fade, upgrading the disc and pad will see a good improvement, if your getting it mapped id consider replacing the cat for a sport/decat, uprated panel filter, hotter plugs and an uprated fuel pump first.

Yeah, I did think about other bits - I've got an uprated fuel pump waiting to go on, so that's sorted, and its already got an uprated panel filter. I was also thinking about a sports cat MillTek system... the real question is should I go for a TD05 20g or something at the same time and just do it all at once! decisions decisions...
anyway, back on topic (sorry for derailing a bit) don't want to turn this in to a how to thread lets see some more hawkeyes

Yeah, its all a question of investment i guess... thinking about it i might get the remap done first with the standard TD04 and then save up and do the turbo upgrade properly. I hadn't thought about the intercooler tbh but a front mount might be a good investment. I'm reasonably mechanically sympathetic as well so i might take a chance on the clutch and replace it when it eventually wears out - my hawk has only done 35k miles or thereabouts so it should last a bit longer hopefully... unless it gets toasted during mapping with the uprated turbo

The thing flies. Simple as that.
272bhp and nearly 350Ib/ft of torque, that's 45bhp and 115Ib/ft difference. Don't really need to go near the carpet for a shove to rival my old Evo. I did the above about £900, not bad for completely new parts throughout and dyno/mapping time.
Next is a VF34 or 35, STI top mount and fuel pump. I'm really light on the clutch as it is so I'm sure it'll take the power.

For anything under 450bhp I'd avoid laggy front mounts and possible pipework issues and go for a simple but effective sti8 top mount, as for the clutch, the ported 20g and Andy forrest mapping is good for over 400 lbs.ft at 3000rpm, foot down in 5th = clutch slip

Maybe its the way the torque is delivered, if the torque curve is steep enough that might be enough to push the clutch over the grip threshold and into slip. That might explain 380lbft and no issues vs/ 415lbft and 2 clutches - ouch

You ought to come for a drive in mine. At 334bhp & 380lb/ft the delivery is quite fierce indeed. Have known them slip with lower miles and far less power and torque. I don't expect mine to last much longer. Thought I'd be putting a clutch in straight after my upgrades but been lucky.
What clutch you been using on yours Ryan? Was it the exedy pink box?

BTW, my second clutch... following a conversation with the owner of a large/popular Subaru tuning company i went for just the AP racing organic clutch friction plate, he said the preasure plate was strong enough to handle my at the time 380/405 and that it was the material of the friction plate that could'nt cope, so i fitted the new plate and after driveing sensiblly for a few miles to bed it in i realised on giving it full beans it was'nt up to the task, i did speak to the company about it and fair play they did tell me to go up for them to take a look but as it was a few hrs drive i did'nt bother, that was a few yrs ago now and as ive only been doing 700 miles a year ive just learned to live with it and drive sympatheticlly, its a pity though as it does spoil the car somewhat, just cant be ar5ed to get the box out again

Great thread which needed bumping. All these cars look great guys, IMHO hawks are the best looking scoob.
A few pics from which I brought it:
Changed a lot since then, its more of a weekend/track car and always buying more stuff for it. A few shots, I'll get some more current ones soon.

You don't have to be Sorry bud.
its not the best in the world,
I am still running a top mount, and I am trying to get as much air flowing over it as I can
The large ones that you can buy don't have the ribs in and start to flap at high speeds
so I made this
there are so many people say it looks good, But I think most of them are just been nice,
But it is large for a reason.
good on you for been honest

Some rather nice cars here!
Black seems to be the popular colour!
Done a wee mod on an STi intercooler this weekend, which will get fitted with some future upgrades later this year hopefully!
I used radiator paint so hope it wont affect temps too much?...
Thoughts?...
