Not necessarily, if Renault have and continue to produce the finest handling hothatches using torsion beam rear suspension, there's hope that Honda can too since they're aiming to be the fastest FWD hatch around the 'Ring.

Grinspeed or TDi North look after mine now. Miles away but worth the journey for specialist treatment. Just wish they were down my way

Honda returned to fixed rear set up purely to lower production costs across the platform. On the EP3/EP2, the non-hot versions, like the Ford Focus and Mini, were all IRS which naturally bumped costs up.

In the mid-90s, I had my 5GTt lowered at Elite in Rainham. They had to literally "go to town wid a pair o' pwliars & a bwlo'torch!" lol... They had to heat up the housings with an oxyacetylene to get the damn torsion bars out. IIRC, it took at least 2 hours of faffing about!
But got there in the end. Achieved the desired drop - and what with the addition of adjustable Spax all round - 'the iron' (the little 5's silhouette always reminds me of said white good lol) handled like the proverbial go-kart. It was a hoot.
Nowt a wrong with splined torsion bar/beam rear suspension, IMO.
