Race Car Build - DIY Style
Daz,
When you going to sort out your webhosting arrangements..... waiting for your images to load is like pulling my own teeth with a pair of rubber gloves!
The car is really starting to take shape now..... any "target" completion date, or are you just moving along with the intention that it will be ready when it's ready?
Much left to do now?
You have some serious drive doing this.... I would have thrown the towel in long time before!

I host from home on my own server. It's free and have no plans to change.
As for the car, I'm in no rush, by the time i finish it this year it'll be winter again and I make that mistake every year. So I'm dragging it out until the spring and can then therefore enjoy a summer of events in it.
Obviously I have financial contraints too and that governs what I can buy for it and when. Realistically its the finance side of things that governs how quickly I can move with it all.
To finish i need to buy the following:
Wheels and tryes £1200
Syvecs fitted and mapped £2K
Seats, mounts and harnesses £1000.
Once that little lot has been bought it'll be all systems go within a couple of weeks.
Surprised myself tonight and managed to get the engine in and bolted up in about 15 minutes tonight. Only to not have the release bearing engage properly because the circlip on the twin plate cover popped off as I tried to engage it.
So I had to take the bugger out, locate the circlip and housing correctly and then have another go. To my delight it went in equally as quick. So from putting the hoist in front of the car it took me 35 minutes to fit the engine, take it out, relocate the circlip and refit it again.
Anyway a couple of snaps of the engine in situ.

With the Airtec RS500 cooler fitted.

Good man Daz,becomes an art when you have had them out so many times!
Above I totally agree about the finances mate,I too am in deep with buying parts for an external fuel setup so pipes/pump/swirl pot/connections etc and then there is all the little bits on a big build that most don't even consider such as heat proofing products and bespoke items that require material/man hours and money like my new pipe work for the ET S215 turbo for arguments sake.
Builds such as this or mine and a few other on here are very expensive and take a long time to do unless you have a deep pocket and pay a company to do.
Loving the work though Daz

Daz, reading with interest. Read your last thread and almost wept when I saw what happened to your car.
This looks cracking. Was sceptical about the color initially but looks like the business now that you have it finished.
Keep us posted.

Reminds me a little of the old Zen performance TOTB car colour, but love the blue and white theme.I'd go for a carbon / black roof but leave the bonnet as is mate, never really think carbon bonnets suit scoobs but it's all personal preference I guess.
Nice rear spoiler as well - not too ridiculously large or lairy, but functional and aggressive, sets the car off nicely.
Look forward to seeing more mate you're an inspiration to all us modders out there
Daz, just seen your thread on 22b. Have to say, probably like you i'm sad to see it end like this. But.... completely understand at the same time.
The work you have done on the previous car & this build are a complete credit to you and your skills. Top job mate.
Keep us updated with the new car as i'm sue you wont be able to keep it standard for long!
Good luck.

Nice to see this all coming together
Our mutual friend Jules was chatting to me the other day about all the work that needed to be done over the winter in order to get it together.
Hope it all goes well
