Who got an iPad?
The Ipad 2 is significantly quicker, lighter and smoother than the 1st generation. I have jailbreaked the 1st one but I won't bother with the 2. Since I updated them both to iOS 5 the different in speed is noticeable.
Moved to Computer related where we're already discussing iPads. When will the Mods realise that they're killing this forum by locking away anything of interest, an easy mistake as popular topics are easily put in a box.
I have one as well as the new apple tv. I must admit I do like my apple products, and in my opinion, design asside, it is the fact that the whole faimily of them integrate together sets them in a different league from all the rest.
I was using the iPad to do some development testing last night, then as a remote control for apple tv, then as drum kit with AirPlay mirroring through my projector, then as something to send audio to my in house AirPlay to play music downstairs, then to write some emails in bed, then to turn off my lights (home seer), then to read a book, and finally to wake me up today. I even found myself going to grab the corner of the pad to turn a page at one point, I really thought I was holding a book.
The screen is so nice, being able to have it so close to your face without seeing the pixels is great. The screen will be the thing that the other manufactures will have to achieve on their devices imo, and the gfx power needed to support it. It will be the software that sets them apart when the others achieve this. I have never found the need to jb any of my apple products as the default experience with the apps available is good enough for me.
Now to draw some nice hi res images for my telescope helper app I am in the middle of developing

Adobe have stopped supporting/developing their mobile flash lib. I sometimes wonder if Steve Jobs had some insider info from future at times
. Even Microsoft have now given up on it now and will not be supported in their windows8 for tablet/phone os.
It will be just a matter of time before it is relegated to the bin in the desktop browsers as web pages move to html5.

I don't know what the xbmc iPad controller is like, but here is an outline of what apple tv does.
You download the remote app for the iPad, it enables the remote control of any iTunes library on the network, as well as direct control of any apple tv boxes. So for example, can tell my laptop iTunes to start playing over its own speakers, or to either an airplay connected to an amp or in my case connected to my in house speaker system. You can also tell it to play to an apple tv and of course you get all the iTunes cover art, tune info etc etc down on the iPad.
Now onto the apple tv control. The remote enables direct control of the apple tv box and changing a music track is instant at about 1 second for the change to happen. It allows gesture control of the menus and control of multiple iTunes library's that are on the network. As movies and tv shows are stored in iTunes you get all these on the apple tv as well, including photo library and photo stream (from your iCloud).
To top it all off, double tap the home button, scroll left to the volume stuff and you can mirror the iPad screen to the Apple tv (720p only however) via wifi.
I dont have a apple tv , don't think I ever will.
For me it's a poor media player. Great at intergration bit as for compatibility with file formats it's rubbish.
I use a media player that's supports 3d bluray .iso ,flac.
I can not be arsed to rip my films then convert them to a format apple are happy with.
