With Apple you have to miss a generation to get something worth while, from the pad to the latest you probably see a good upgrade but from the 2 to this, it won't tempt alot to bin their ipad 2's.
Spotted the deliberate error yet i posted?

I've been wanting an iPad since they were released, would have bought the iPad2 if it had the retina display (iPad2 was released just after I'd upgraded from a iPhone 3GS to a 4 so the difference in screen quality was key).

Haven't even looked Tony, probably something way too Telco geek for anyone to care.
In a way you're right, I probably won't be upgrading from my iPad 2 as it's still way better than anything else out there, my eyes aren't that good, my data is capped and nothing has slowed it down so far. But, no doubt when I see one in the flesh the credit card will flex.

Someone at work bought an ipad2 about 3 weeks ago....he won't be happy.
I tell him that a new one was on the cards.
So dual core cpu and quad core gpu. What is the gpu on ipad 1 which is what I have? I was mainly interested in the retina display and any serious gpu performance increase to see if it was heading down the road of much improved portable gaming.
I'm very interested to see what that screen looks like in the flesh.

Well, I slept on it and I've just pre-ordered the 32GB WiFi in white
Couldn't decide on colour, my original iPad is black and my wife's iPad 2 is white and I think it looks better
It says it will be delivered on Friday 16th
Still tempted to upgrade my original AppleTV to the new one as mine doesn't support AirPlay

I've decided to wait and look at one in the shop. They should have gone A6 chip so quad core all round but as usual taking minimum upgrades to get as much out the market as possible and leaving A6 for ipad4.

Far from it
I don't upgrade my Apple devices whenever a new one is released, I currently have iPhone 3GS (had for 3 years), AppleTV (had for 3 years), iPad 1 (had for 2 years) and a Macbook Pro (had for 3 years)
I take my iPad with me when I work away in Milton Keynes every week so it will be nice to Facetime to my wife's iPad2 and see the kids etc and it will be much better using Netflix on that new screen
Besides, I get my bonus letter on Monday

I bought the 3G version so I could use it on mobile networks around the world, why else would you buy a 3 or 4G version?

My question about 3G/4G connectivity is a serious one. None of the people I know with ipads uses theirs with a sim (those who bought 3G wish they hadn't as, beyond the initial novelty, soon realised the connectivity is pants and not worth paying a monthly subscription for another sim card). Overseas is surely even worse due to horrific roaming charges?
Gordo
I have no trouble with connectivity. SD card reader works a treat. Although I don't really use it at all now as my iPhone 4s camera is comparable with my Canon compact in most cases and the pictures appear on the iPad via PhotoStream.
Buying the 3G version has other benefits, GPS and a Compass would be enough for me.
For abroad I just pick up an iPad sim without contract at the airport, usually about a tenner for a gig or so. In the UK I add a gig of data for £10 when I need to, no need to subscribe. It's a lot cheaper than hotel WiFi.
