Well it would seem that he just got sick of all the b1tching and obviously took some of the comments to heart.

At the end of the day if you have a good experience with a tuner and someone asks for a recommendation all you can do is relay your experience, how that turns out in the end is hardly the fault of the person doing the recommending.

And as the person / engine in question went to another tuner of his own choosing and had a similar experience to the one at pennine, it shows that it's an easy mistake to make when dealing with someone who appears knowledgeable and has the gift of the gab, and like so many is able to talk the talk but unable to walk the walk.

I don't know banny beyond snet but have met his brother maz, who is a true gentleman and i get the feeling banny is no different, and a man of his word that has the courage of his convictions, which is a rare character trait in this day and age, and if such a person feels that they can go no further in a particular situation i'd imagine it was with good reason and not a decision arrived at lightly.

Personally i would not give them the satisfaction, but i am bloody minded and as stubborn as they come.

And i hope that he changes his mind when he has had time to get over his sense of disappointment with this community and some of the people in it.

But i won't hold my breath.

Good luck to him.

TX.
Have seen that happen with many formerly reputable workshops in the past, pretty much every marque has them. They get tired of giving free advice, they aren't making enough money, they start taking shortcuts, or fitting lower quality parts than they used to, next thing you know, complaint threads all over the place. Not saying that happened here, but over the years of being a petrolhead and in my motorsport connections I have seen many reputable places go bust in this fashion.

Forums are a community, and in all communities there are good and bad, this place is pretty good at calling BS, but even I am staggered at the level of replies that don't even come close to the OP's requirements in their initial post.

eg Q. "I love my scooby burble, but I want to fit a slightly quieter system to meet trackday requirements anyone have a good system to recommend"
A. "I got a XYZ system mate, it's awesum, you can hear me from 8 miles away init"

It's not limited to scoobynet either mate, happens in every motoring forum. I read on another forum about a guy who parked on the pavement so he didn't get a ticket for parking on double yellows, he was then looking for ways he could get out of the resulting ticket, the mind boggles.

alcazar,
I do understand what you're saying and perhaps I just ignore it, so don't really notice it.

With regards to posting, what you may deem as crap by people who don't know what they're on about. I doubt they mean any harm by it and are not out to **** us off.... perhaps it's our job to educate these users?

Things don't annoy me now, that once annoyed me 10yrs ago. And you know what... if I've learnt anything it's just to switch off when someone is being a ****. Let em.... if anything it might even be entertaining.

Personally I get more pissed off with the utter horse **** grammar and spelling used. With text speak and basic **** poor written english, the most atrocious I have seen in a long while.

I've never met Banny but liked his style... I just wonder if with the benefit of hindsight that his staunch defence of Chy might have been a mistake ?

Having been present when Bigarf's engine let go, this is the second one that vomitted a litre of oil through two catchcans in around 70 miles... I can only say that almost every build he did had problems. But he offered to "sort it" if it was kept quiet.

JAG's was probably one of the last ( and most expensive ? ! ), by that point in time Chy should have been confirmed as either a god-like presence or a charlatan ?

I even tried to warn Bigarf about his second choice of engine builder, but he was in too much of a rush to have a working car again, after 18 months of hell.

He has to admit that the current ( 650 bhp ) Enginetuner motor has taken some serious punishment... and laughs at it !

Ten years is enough ?

I reckon I have a two door itch I need to scratch.

And I may be short of a job in a few weeks ( again ! ) so we will see.

Oh I can put up with the crap, and the sillinmerss and bad manners of most posters.

What DOES get up my nose is when someone spends a while posting three good reasons why you shouldn't do XYZ, you get some daft tw@ straight away saying, "Ignore the old farts on here, innit. It worked gr8 on my RSTrubo, so wot cn go rong on a Scubby, iz wot I say."

Drives me batsh!t.

Yes, it's started getting to me.

At first I just ignored it, then I started suggesting to posters that the use of English and not using text speak would get them better replies.

Lately, I've found myself corecting spellings and just not responding to badly written posts asking for help, even when I could BE of help.

Maybe I'm getting fed up of it too..............

Best approach to be honest. If they cannot construct a reasonable request for help, let the newbies help them, they will get disillusioned and sell up when the advice sucks

Can find MOST answers with a search anyway, from original and wise members
