Seemed like a top bloke even though I've never met him.

John is still a member, he even started a thread in this very forum the other day. I'm sure you thought he'd left because he used to be active in the technical forums? You don't have to wonder to hard why people avoid those areas, it's like ground hog day!

He did threaten to go about six months back, but we talked him out of it.

TBH, the forums ARE going downhill, with randowm advice given by complete know-nothings, and IB's response to scammers and problems like that doesn't help.

Then there are traders who allegedly get preferential treatment and odd moderating decisions.

Is there any wonder folk get fed up of it?

Was down at Banny's for a cuppa yesterday.

I know his reasoning behind his decision, and it's understandable.

Your opinion is subjective rather than objective imo.

I have been hearing that this place has been going to the dogs for years. There is nothing new in those subjective statements.

Personally I don't see / haven't seen any major changes. I read what I want to read and leave any drivel to the people that take part in it.

If any individual wants to stop using this resource then so be it. **** happens and life goes on.

Ok well its a shame but a sorry situation that he feels he has to leave rather than do what I and most do and that's just ignore the bullcrap and read what you want to. Never met the guy but he seemed to offer good advice and to a majority I'm sure saw him as a positive member on here. Such is life I guess

I may well have missed something on the Penine thread but have posts been removed as I can't seem to make sense of the situation.

Without going into the nitty gritty details what exactly is the issue?

It's a shame to see a knowledgeable member feel they have to leave due to any reason.

So YOU, personally, have seen no "Fit it mate, it worked on my RST, wot do thees on here know anyway, they are old dodders" type of posts then?
And if you have, are there MORE now than in, say 2002?
Objective enough?

Of course, but when lots of threads descend into the above, name-calling or just plain bad manners, and you are halfway through the thread, does that not annoy you? Even a little bit?
Objective enough?

No-one arguing with that.

What I AM saying is that it is a shame to retain those with little or no knowledge, manners, or skills to offer, while losing the likes of Banny, Splitpin, and others.

SOMETHING is driving them away, whether you accept it, or have noticed it or not

We don't know that it was the Penine thread tbf as no one has confirmed it crux of that thread though was/is that Banny was promoting Penine, others used him then their engines failed.

How can he possibly get by day to day though without SNet
