Feel sorry for your situation - however it is nothing to do with Gumtree. You will get just as many chavs on ebay and Autotrader.

Amin,

If true that's a rough time you had.

1) Go back to police with a sensible friend

2) Tell Gumtree what happened

3) Remove your personal details on ad or cancel the ad
Thank You Sir.

I only offered a refund as I didn't want bother, I don't like upsetting or hurting people, It is not of my nature of such things. You see there is good people out there and bad people and the main reason why I wanted the car back because Its the longest vehicle I've ever owned and to be honest, it became a part of me. Although Its gone now and I know it'll never return, I just hope someone cares for it as much as I did. *in tears*
1)What does that mean??

2) Why do you keep crying?

3) What did you mean when you earlier said you have the soul of a 12 year old boy? Do you practice witchcraft and have a small boy locked in your basement??

Whatever he actually meant, it confirms what most of the details in his story already strongly hinted it at - that he's hopelessly immature and as such not ready for the responsibility of running the school tuck shop, let alone buying and selling motor vehicles.

Above comment is intended solely as constructive criticism, not a dig at the OP. Know your limitations.

Keyworth is a village to the south of Nottingham, which you would pass by on your way back to Leicester. It has a couple of areas full of scum.

The neatest Wickes to the train station is in The Meadows (another hive of scum) and within running distance of the local police station. This Wickes is also the closest to Trent Bridge.

The local rag is The Nottingham Evening Post www.thisisnottingham.co.uk

The OP should make a complaint to Nottinghamshire Police and consider taking it to the Independent Police Complaints Commission if he wants to have it looked in to.

Assault was committed as soon as the Scum placed a hand on the victim.

If the Scum bag is stupid enough to register the vehicle to his address, the DVLA records will tell plod where to start looking.

Shocking and I hope the OP does go to the police. Personally like above though its up to the buyer to check the car out befreo buying it.

you said sold as seen and if you feel bad enough to give a refund Then they should come to you with the car in orignal contidion - not smoked in!

If the OP just mentioned the sale/refund and difference on money, then it is a civil matter. If you mentioned attempted assault/kidnapping etc, then they would HAVE to do something, so I don't think the OP explained everything to the police.

They stole money, not the car. (They had bought the car the day before)

They held him against his will.

I used to live in Keyworth

But I agree, the 'Reservation' has it's fair share of scummy druggies, but there's no saying this chap came from there?

If the reg number is posted up I'll keep my eye out for it - I pass through there every day.

As for the Wickes - I suspect the OP means Clifton Bridge as that's nearest.

(for the avoidance of doubt, I no longer live in Keyworth but a nice little village just down the road. )

go in the cop shop, and say you want to report 1)theft 2)kidnap 3)assault and his missus will get the book thrown at her for being part of it, they have to listen to you, if not go to the pcc, police complaints comission.

a wind up yes.

Firstly from what I read you said he had the car already so when you visited him to give him a refund you must have had the cash on you, if he was as bad as you said he would have taken the money off you and the car. Why would he give you a grand for the car he had no need to as he had already paid for it and you were refunding him.

the story does not make any logical sense.

If this has any element of truth I would suggest that you give up selling cars or even dealing with any money in any form as you obviously have no common sense.

Certainly dismissed as such on PH. On the whole SN has more pleasant members though - PH is full of Walter Mitty type bell-ends, many of whom add nowt to a thread and simply wait to belittle people, come the c*nt and generally try to be clever.

Just to clarify:
You sold him the car, he wants a refund, you get a train to meet him carrying all the money he paid for it, he then takes back his money but leaves you £1k and he keeps the car?
Is that right?

Thats how I read it mate. If so, he is in line for a bit of time at Her Majesty's pleasure. The Police involved should be ashamed of themselves.

I really don't know what to ake of ths thread

Anyway, on face value:

Any contract/reciept signed can be nullified as it was done under duress, under an act of blackmail (to sign a reciept and accept a reduced sum for the car under threats of violence). IIRC blackmail is a police matter.

That in turn then makes the car stolen by deception...another police matter.

I want to believe this sad story, if true, a sad day indeed, but it does smell of that story on the mitsubishi forum of that lad who got stapped/shot trying to stop a girl getting raped, that all turned out to be a hoax
