If the mods are planned over a long period of time, stage by stage I would go for the ESL. If going for big mods and trying for every last BHP then the Simtek is a better option , for the track.
I would say the reverse is probably true.

Compare two similar cars mapped recently:

Doesn't take too much detective work to see a trend.

Early ESL boards won't support twin maps. For 92/6, it must say V2.0 on the silkscreen.

On a road car, the different fules from pump to pump, its worth considering the ESL as it offers the Knock control.

I would have ESl , if it wasnt for the deal I got for sure. Combile the ESL with a new map sensor and you have a car that gets rid of a potential problem of the MAF and allows a higher boost level.
ALS and LC don't get you any BHP.

Next gen ESL FTW on this !

Had some cracking results so far on those that I have done on the ESL board... of the ones that have been on the dyno so far:

349bhp on jimmys custard
346bhp on jasons ra
341bhp on ollies
335bhp on Wickys Leggy
310bhp on Steves Twin Turbo Legacy

Love the new ESL software and the ESL option keep all the factory cold start, idling and knock control yet gives mafless (or maf based if you want) and twin maps on most

Very pleased to be able to feed into the development loop for the software and ecu through Andy and Spence to help the ongoing development of this

for what it is worth, track car maps in reality tend to produce less power as much bigger safety margins are needed to take into account of the excessive heat and harsh driving

No then lads I am an Engineer by trade, so i know it desent give you more BHP, but cars mapped for track and cars mapped for road are different , and before anyone jumps in track cars are not built to last and ALS is not road legal. I think ELS is a sound rec for someone as is Simtek. Also I am not talking peak power, responce is the key on a compertition car .
