With all due respect wtf are you on about? I have owned many cars over the last 10 years including 3 Hondas, 5 Scoobs, a Porsche Boxster and a Lotus Elise, but none of that matters as I don't need to have owned anything to a) read the woeful sales figures for the current Impreza and b) look at it and judge it as a styling disaster.
But having owned the cars mentoned I can safely say that all of them, even the somewhat dull Porsche Boxster, were better packages than the current Impreza which on the two occasuon I have driven it has left me sadly disappointed. Yeah maybe it's more 'grown up', but that is not what Scoobs were about... there are plenty of 'grown up' cars out there already. We didn't need another one especually one that f**king ugly!
Anyway all this is a moot argument as in the UK the majority of the people who matter, the general public, agree with me....hence why it is selling like ice cubes in the Arctic

As I said just choose anything at 33K, Merc, BMW, Audi ... Tata ... anything. They are not as bad as the hatch, Yes it is quite good at getting from A to B quite quickly (engine blow ups permitting), but that's it. End of the good points.
Anyway you can argue until you are blue in the face for all I care, the sales figures do not lie!

What a complete load of bollocks. About 3 days a year when the snow is down I grant you they may be compromised, but a Scoob isnt actually that much better unless you have winter tyres. This urban (pun intended) myth about the Scoob being a great car for the snow is rubbish unless you have the right tyres.

Don't be silly
Yes winter tyres will make a big difference.
I've never had winter tyres on the Impreza and never had a problem getting around.
Both my neighbours could not get their cars our of their drives for about 3 weeks last year (one automatic Merc, one manual 3 series BMW)

Its a fair point to say that engines going pop may have hurt subaru sales but as far as im aware that is now a historic problem, yet you still love to beat that drum.
Then you go into a diatribe about styling curves and lines. Again thats your opinion and not one i or many share.
Sorry if im wrong but you appear to be twisting information to suit your arguement in slating the hatch. The sales figures posted were for 2011 hatch sales. The hatch in the uk was a 2008-2010 model car. So the 300+ people who bought it were in fact buying last years model (the hatch) over the new 2011 WRX sti. This would suggest to me that the hatch is quite a popular choice.
As for other make car sales in the 30k bracket. I dont think Subaru were ever trying to compete in volume with the likes of BMW, merc Audo ect. Subaru are a small company compared to those. As for quality i'd say there on a par unless your spending 50k on those makes.
Im not sure why you felt the need to post all the cars you used to own or what that was suppposed to prove. I do however find myself wondering why you find yourself in an old banger classic after owning such prestigious cars.

If my comments over the hatch are seen as some by insulting the oweers then they need to get a thicker skin!
It is also interesting how you seem to correlate someone with money as being a better person than someone with less as you imply their opinion carries more wieght. Nice sentiment

A 2wd car with winter tyres will be better in winter conditions than a 4wd with 'standard' tyres every time. And winter tyres make more of a difference than 4wd ever will.
Just Google it if you don't believe me.

Cool thread brahh.
If the sales figures are low then can anyone explain the drop in demand and price for second hand scooby's??
It cant just be down to maintenance surely?
I've just bought myself a V8 Blobeye 2004 Subaru WRX STi...it was a steal! bye

But a the end of the day, all things being equal with tyres, my 4wd car can go places that a 2wd car most certainly cannot.
And if that 2wd car happens to be rwd, then quite frankly its had it - just like my neighbours cars that couldn't even get out of their driveway.
You constantly go out of your way to comment on hatch posts - if you don't like it that much then why not just ignore it instead of behaving like a spoilt child

I'm really not a fan of the hatch or even the new saloon. Both are very boring looking cars in my humble opinion. Look at the black car above from the side shot, I mean come on it looks like a something from bloody proton. And that bonnet and spoiler, please......
BUT,
My opinion means nothing. If YOU like it then that's that, that's what matters. Many hate the classic but I love it and even though I am very able to purchase a much newer model I won't.
Who knows, maybe these newer editions will grow on me. I hated the bug when it was released and still hated it up until recently. But it's starting to grow on me, " slightly ".

Well, I've done just that only to discover that for £33k I'm looking at the likes of the BMW series 3 or Audi A4 two litre diesel models, amongst other uninspiring options. It's fine if your main consideration is 40 mpg but out of the question if you don't want an 'every other car' repmobile that takes around a week to pass a steam roller.
