Had a really good day today. A mate recommended "Roll Centre" as I needed another bar fabricated onto rollcage for the harnesses.
Can't recommend these guys enough. They even opened up on a saturday just for my job and was at a bargain of a price. While I was there (John) the fabricator was telling me all about his uncle that owns the company and showed me round the other parts.
I was in for a proper treat. His uncle is a successful race driver and have an epic race car collection. Several single seater le man cars, tones of sexy carbon fibre and a secret ferrari 458.
I was able to get a couple of shots they'd just finished an 86 prep
A very impressive trophy collection, they finished 4th one year at LeMans
I will defo be going back there. Gonna add more to the rollcage and I've got a few ideas for some aerodynamic mods they'll be able to make. Cheers guys, I'll be back soon

A few days back I had the new wing fitted. From this:
To this:
And to quote Duncan "Gez your car is minging mate" I gave it a good wash and tried a new wax called "harly wax" a few people at work recommended it. It's brilliant stuff. It's 100% carnauba wax, it's like spreading butter and so easy to rub off. It left the scoob looking spotless
Ryan; you've done a brilliant job mate. Matches perfectly

On Sunday I was at Snetterton with some friends. The new harness bar worked well for tying down the 888s
Got there the night before to claim our garages. What a beautiful site
The scoob handled brilliant, couldnt fault it at all. Handled like a dream, the 888s were amazing. All in had a superb weekend. Great company and a great track

Been doing a few cosmetic bits over the last week or two. I wanted to paint the new harness bar.
Who needs a fancy spray booth
A few coats of etch and normal primer
and then a hole load of colour and then some lacquer
I wanted to tidy up the look of the rear now the back seats are out. After seeing what other guys had done. I decided to try and carpet the wheel arches and floor and make an ally rear firewall.
First job, tidy up the arches and carpet
I bought some self adhesive carpet, with a lot of measuring and back and forth
after I was happy with the fit, made a template for the reverse
I'm pretty happy, its not perfectly smooth. I could of stripped off all the sound deadening but the actual metal work is still bumpy.
Next was the firewall. But before removing all the isa fix and sound proofing I took a load of measurements and transferred it to some mdf to make a template
Ended up a great fit but I still wanna tweak the shape a little. The ally is arriving monday, will tweak the template then.
I'm not 100% sure what I'm gonna do on carpeting the floor. Thinking of getting a different type of carpet. You can get the stuff that you can mold with heat just like the original floor carpet. Thinking of getting a pro to do it, don't want it to look ****.
The other weekend I was able to pick up a set of 2005 wrx door cards, they're the only black hawkeye style door cards apart from the Spec-C. There's nothing wrong with the originals but just prefer black

All was going perfectly but the drivers handle surround split when removing, ordered another from subaru.
Looking forward to finishing the firewall and then painting

The ally sheet arrived this morning, I was able to get a little done this evening
It was pretty easy to cut the ally, never really cut large sheet metal before
It took a lot of back and forth but it's a great fit
I was able to drill the. Bottom holes but lost the light but will start to prep and paint tomorrow evening

Recently been trying to sort out the back after removing the back seats. Its been a bit up and down, but I think its gonna work out in the end.
First up was painting the new rear firewall. Another expensive spray booth set up :loll:
Couple of coats of etch and normal primer went well
But the colour was a disaster, its almost impossible getting a good finish on that size area with just rattle cans. After a lot of farting about I gave up and thought I'd give the carbon wrapping a go. Took a while but got there in the end, and pretty happy with the finished look
Next stage was to sort out the seat floor, due to regularly carrying track wheels I needed something a little robust so decided on carpet. Initially I brought some carpet that can me moulded with a heat gun, but looked **** and wasn't mouldable enough. I went back to using some of the self adhesive carpet.
I ran out of what I had left but should have it finished by the weekend. Its a bit bumpy due to following the metal work underneath but I'm hoping when all the parts are back in it looks pretty smart
One mini disaster I've had but might just end up working out well is: this morning I hit a stupidly small low bollard in a car park. Bad enough I was going to the bloody dentist then I do this in the car park
Straight on the blower to Ryan (prodrive rules) he's gonna sort and re-spray the hole bumper and while its with him its gonna get a full machine polish
Bit of a kick in the nuts but can't wait to see the results. See you saturday Ryan

So after Gez caught the front bumper on a little post he got the car down to me for it to be repaired, unfortunately with my booth filtration playing up it has taken longer than planned to get it done but today I could finally paint,so in went Gez's bumper with refit tomorrow afternoon.
