You need Ebony Ingots and Daedra Hearts to smith Daedric items. Arcane smithing allows you to improve Magical Armour.

Alchemists have them as well (rarely)

They are like hens teeth though which is why it's not recommended to rely on Daedric Armour as it's a cow to complete the set

I went the light armour route but Dragon Armour comes in light and heavy variants - you just need to make sure you have collected both the scales and bones whenever you kill a dragon.

Dragon Scale armour needs just Dragon scale, Dragon Plate needs bones and scales.

(So get the house in Whiterun asap and store them there)

Oh and the way to get smithing up is:

Go out hunting, collect animal hides, create leather and leather strips and make loads of hide / leather armour

Spolier - in white there.....

Is it not just easier to buy iron ingots and make a load of dagger.i suppose hunting easy animals has the added bonuses that fighting brings. just seems a lot of hassle to me

spoiler alert

not relay played it still but my GF brothers completed it, he said make daggers as much as you can, then enchant them when you have the skills and you'll be able to buy stuff from the market and still make a profit.

he also said getting a soul staling weapon and empty soul gems is the way to go.

there's also some sort of glitch to get a house for free, can't remember eactly what, but something to do with being next to a container.

Daggers need leather as well don't forget - you get everything in one place my way and make a profit as well (which also boosts your speech skill)

Dragon Armour:

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Armor

gives you the exact figures

Started this just before xmas and finished this week clocking up 245 hrs !

Now thats what you call value for money !

Only real flaw is the number of bugs and occasional lag...I ended up with alot of quests that were broken or could not be turned in etc. but no real game breakers. ahh Bugthesda..when will you learn !

Anyway my char is lvl 76, but I still have 4 or 5 skills that are not quite maxed, I think I'll hit the lvl cap somewhere in the 80's.

Brilliant game..

I'm only 60 something hours in, Level 34 I think?

I've not bothered with the main quest yet, but have learned a load of "shouts" which I need dragon souls to use. What's the crack with killing them, I guess a tin of fly spray isn't really going to help.

I forget what race my character is, but, preferred style so far is sneak and snipe.

Do the West Tower main quest (about the 3rd one) after you get to Whiterun then you'll find yourself kneedeep in Dragons

Have something nearby to hide behind and have lots of healing potions to hand.

Leveled up to 40 last night. smithing and block now at 100. if the max Level is 81, how are you meant to get all the perks for each class? I know the PC version has a console function that you can use to cheat giving yourself 100 for each perk. I can't see how it would be possible on a PS3 or an XBOX.

As an aside, check out 100 ways to die in skyrim on youtube. it comes in two parts. very funny.

I'm surprised that at lvl 34 you haven't killed any yet !

Buy some resist fire/frost potions, the best you can afford (think the elixirs give you 50% resistance but are expensive). Wait until the dragon breathes on you so you know which type of breath he has, then pop the corresponding potion and take evasive action until the bugger lands and you can melee him.

Casting stoneflesh/ironflesh etc will give you some extra protection too I think. Try to keep round the back of him if you can, I swear this helps stop him doing a one snap with his jaws kill on you alot of the time, although he will bash with his tail but this seems less deadly. Heal as soon as you go 50% health or below.

Oh, and this may sound silly, but when you have more than one word in a shout you have to hold the R-bumper in to vocalise the entire shout, not just tap it. Took me a while to realise this - that'll teach me not to read the manual

The force shout is funny when held for a little bit and the opponent go's flying backwards
Then just run and bash them before they get back up

The sprint one is VERY useful in getting across ledges you can't jump - so it's worth getting the shouts just to open areas up

(Oh and I killed dragons by using electrical magic attacks - it stuns them so much they won't breathe on you - then I jump behind something convenient and hide until magicka is refreshed enough. Once I got my archery up to stupid levels and damages I could drop a low strength dragon in a couple of hits (criticals help!)

I am having fun sneaking around increasing my archer skill. took the guys ouy in the fort just beside whiterun. didnt know what hit them. in the dark to. glass arrows too. probably overkill but what the hell. two of them were head shots. well chuffed.took on the giants and mammoths. enchanted battleaxe with soul trap and got a mammoth soul. first time ever doing that. i wondered why i couldnt enchant items with a soul gem. they need to be filled you dummy. another case of RTFM.

If you complete the Mehrunes’ Razor quest there are two daedric lords that you can kill and harvest hearts from every 48 hours or so.

Up to level 28 i think. Got 100 block (mud crabs have to be good for something) and speech up to 100 by talking to the guy in the Meadery at Riften. Just keep talking to the guy behind the counter about the owner and you get the option to 'persuade' him to tell you more. Took about 20-40 minutes to get 100% speech craft. I think you need to be on 25 for speech before you can do it though!
I do prefer this one to Oblivion..

ok guys I have a slight problem here. I had Legendary Orkish armour. I enchanted all armours as well as weapons. I can't remember which enchantments but it allowed me to have heal in one hand and flames in the other. Now when attacked by anyone i could just heal with one hand and flame with the other, but get this when my magika was depleted it still kept going meaning i could kill anything including dragons if i kept going long enough.

Now I have upgraded to Daedric armour this little quirk no longer work. when i run out of magika my healing and flames stops untill my magika charges again. Anyone have any ideas?

yes i did this. I am now being very picky about which perks I choose as you can only go to level 81. You can't fill all the perk trees. Concentrating on heavy armour and double weilded weapons. Archery and sneak are another two I would like to upgrade. I have to say, now that I am at nearly level 50 the levels are coming much slower. However some animals like bears, trolls, sabre cats and wolves I can now kill with one power blow from my Daedric War Axe so it isn't all bad. Ancient Dragons are still a complete b1tch though

Smithing followed by what ever weapon you use either two handed or one handed. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Then it depends what you want to concentrate on. Thief, mage, warrior or a bit of all of them. I took the bit of them all line and have a pretty rounded character. Conjuration and illusion are not particularly strong but other than that Frei Ironhelm is a pretty stand up guy.

you can do that anytime but it is pretty limited at the start and once an item of armour is enchanted it can't be re-done. you need the strongest soul gems to make the strongest enchantments (e.g. greater soul gem or black soul gem). only a black soul gem can be filled with a human soul and these make the best enchantments IIRC. you can also take some potion to make your enchanting skill higher before you enchant but you may only have 30 or 60 second to do your stuff. this means you have to be prepared before hand and know what you are going to do. I have seen one guy on you tube do 4 enchantments in 30 seconds on a 25% reduction on destruction spells. His four enchanted items meant basically all his destruction spells cost no magicka to cast. Clever. he had all the items to hand as he whizzed through the menus and BANG, 4 enchanted items.

later on you can cast two enchantments on the one item effectively doubling up any of your previous enchanctments. needs 100 skill in enchantment though.

so my skill trees are going to be
smithing
heavy armour
sneak
archery
two handed
enchantment

anyone recommend anything else?
