Best part of last night was Jimmy coming off the A45 near Rugby. As we approach he says "this corner was a nightmare in my BMW" and then preceded to get a HUGE swapper going round there, snatching the wheel like a madman and filling his pants!

Keep the mid level spoiler Jim. The later high level ones (in my opinion) just don't suit the classic shape. Personally I think the classic body suits no spoiler at all.

Congrats to Jimmy and Bert!, and I admire Stu helping out and sticking up for a fellow SN member. Thats what makes these forums great, not the bullying, scamming and name calling.

Well done guys, top find for what appears to be a great deal!

I go to my local jetwash, get a number four token (£2.50! Pricey but worth it) Hot shampoo, foam brush (trying not to drag the hose over the roof too much) then jetwash rinse and hot wax.

Obligatory photo ***** as I've just bought the car as well

I'd prefer a Type R though

This is my routine which I use on my car and is a pretty generic list which could be applied on any car (not including the werkstat kit). I hope that it helps if you want to keep your car looking like new and in the best possible condition.

The products come to about £200 and is well worth the time, money and effort. Experienced detailers charge from £200 up to £thousands of pounds just for one session.

The Werkstat Acrylic kit is the most highly recommended product to use on white/silver/light metalic coloured cars as it gives an unbeatable shine/finish.

Wheels and Tyres
Wet wheels first, use Megs Wheel Brightener at 4:1, agitate with brush, rinse off.
Wet tyres and arches, use Megs All Purpose Cleaner at 4:1, agitate with brushes, rinse off.
(4 part water, 1 part product).

Engine Bay
Wet first, Soak with Megs APC at 4:1, agitate with brush, rinse off, turn on engine for 5 minutes.

Exterior Car
1) Wet first, then Snow foam (if not snow foaming, skip to step 2).
2) Wet first, Wash car using 2 bucket method with Megs Shampoo Plus, rinse off.
3) Use Megs APC at 4:1 to do window frames, grill, door shuts, fuel cap, badge, etc, then agitate with brush, rinse off (if not, skip to step 4).
4) Spray autotardis to remove tar spots/bugs, rinse off (if not, skip to step 5).
5) Finally, dry car. Done. (if claying, no need to dry).

Clay –every 6 months
Bilthamber soft clay, 1 panel at a time, wipe residue off.
After claying of whole car, rinse and dry.

Polish or skip –every 6 months after clay

Werkstat Kit
Use Acrylic Prime and buff off with a good buffing towel - every 6 months after clay/polish.
Use Acrylic jet trigger and buff immediately (including exterior trim) - every 2 months.
Use Acrylic gloss and buff immediately - after every wash to keep the car very shiney and protected.

Seal engine bay with 303 Aerospace Protect.

Clean exterior windows with Acrylic Prime.

Seal tyres with 3M Tyre Restorer.

Seal wheels with Acrylic Prime.

Polish exhaust with Meguiar's NXT All Metal Polish.

I'd put the shoping list in the bin!
Can't be many of the first Type Rs in pretty much original form as yours is.
Leave it standard IMO.

Its not in original form tho, it has a de-cat system and fuel pump so would benefit from a filter and map.

The rear arch needs doing and some of the stickers and paint look a little tired so he's going to get that sorted and freshened up.

Changing to a facelift bumper and crystal lights is a good idea as it has a facelift bonnet and grille already and brightens up the front.

He's not going mental on the car, he's trying to make it a good clean solid example and just improve a few things. I'm hoping he can get it over to me soon to the bodyshop, valeters etc. It should look mint when done.

I think he should ditch the 16's and go for some white 17's, anyone got a pic with something similar?
