Only a brain dead moron would shell out 700+ quid and queue up for 2 days to get an iPhone and then have a 35 quid pm tariff.

If you want something that's HUGE then get the Galaxy, if you want something that's a more realistic size then get the iPhone.
Personally though i'd still get the 4 over the 4S, Siri isn't fantastic and the camera isn't that much better on the 4S than the 4. The dual processor saves you a few seconds on boot up but is that worth the extra £200 ish over the length of the contract?

You'll find they are both good phones shame you cant try before you buy. Whichever you start with you tend to end up staying with in the future either ios or andriod because of the money you end up shelling out in apps which will be tied to your platform.

Cracking Deal On A Galaxy S2
Oldsplice, have a look at the deal below for a Galaxy S2, I think I will take it up myself and just have two mobiles for a while.

I think that's a better idea, if you can afford to buy the phone outright.
Some of the sim only deals are awesome. My iPhone4 is sim only, 250mins, unlimited texts/data for a tenner, happy with that. No contract, no worries.
That tesco deal above is rubbish really, apart from getting a free phone, 300mins/texts isn't alot for £20/month.

I'd go for the Galaxy S2. As an Iphone owner for over a year. I can honestly say it's **** as a phone!!! Keyboard locks up when texting, locking up when swipping the bar to answer a call (Missing that call) It's good to check emails, browsing etc etc. Which is all good. But, at the end of the day, I want a phone that works as a phone!!! And with a decent battery life. The iPhone is the only phone where I've had to buy an in car charger!! And even of I really wanted a new iPhone and could deffo afford one, never in a million years I'd buy one for the prices they go for!!! Cheeky cun*s!!!

I am still edging towards an outright purchase and than a sim only deal, but if you factor in the £20.00 x 24 totals £480.00, deduct the rough cost of the handset of £350.00 so you are receiving 24 months call, texts, browsing and data for £130.00.
To me that is not such a bad deal.

Based on what evidence?
Me and a mate tested them side by side, with me (on a 4) and my mate (on a 4S) standing next to each other and taking a photograph of exactly the same thing. The image was then viewed on a computer and there wasn't that much of a difference! The file size on the 4S wasn't that much larger either!

Just an unbiased opinion as i own both the 4s and a galaxy s2 (work phone) and if your a normal phone user who sticks his phone on charge when he goes to bed etc then either one is perfectly fine if you like being able to talk to your phone and get it to do stuff the iphone wins hands down, the galaxy always seems to mess up what i ask the assistant to do.
But for as close to a pc as you can get on a phone the galaxy is miles ahead imo, Every web page opens instantly and the iphone lags a little behind.. plus any flash films on a website etc play directly on the galaxy with 0 fuss or anything.
Plus i have noticed now that i have had both phones for a while im starting to leave the 4s at home more now as i just prefer the larger screen on the galaxy.
App wise it really makes no difference as both phones have a huge app store and ive not had any trouble finding anything i needed on the marketplace for galaxy but the same is true on the app store for apple too.
If you write texts alot then the iphone is deffo not for you, Writing texts on the galaxy you can choose what keyboard you like ?(old nokia style or qwerty) but the predictive text on the galaxy can be a bit bizarre if you type fast as it seems to repeat words that it thinks you want to write. Writing texts on the iphone is such a pain in the **** for fat fingers lol
Now if it was upto me today to spend my own money i would rather have bought the galaxy 2 as i just think the screen space etc is just more easier to live with in comparison to the iphones slightly smaller screen.
Just so its noted im not a iphone hater as i spent my own money on the 4s but if i had played with a galaxy before then thats what i would of bought instead.

Thanks to everyone for their input (well, all but one.....).
S2martin, that pretty much sums up all I need to know. I mostly text on it, as I can't get a proper signal for actual calls at work. It's pretty much a dead zone. I just wanted to know if anyone had used both, and what their preferences were. I've already screwed up once, by buying the Xperia Mini, and didn't want to come unstuck again.
I rang O2 today, to see what kind of deal they could offer me, and they can do a Galaxy S2, on a 24 month contract at £13.50 a month, with me paying £180 for the phone.
