FACT,people you slate the iPhone can't afford one, what's 700 quid,I have had two iPhone 4s's as I dropped my first one of a mutli storey car park by mistake,so I went and bought one sim free untill the Halifax coughed up the 700 quid,no worries!
Cant afford one? Just like you cant afford a proper Impreza so drive around in a once smashed 1500 quid Impreza.

Oh and for the record i also have the S2......That is all.

Bugger, I'm just about to outright buy a 4S / S2 or Nexus blissfully unaware of the above releases - I might just put it off a little longer now.

The Nexus looks decent tbh. If I was going to android now, I'd go for that.

Not sure your comments are strictly true.

iPhones defo don't look plasticky? Voted best battery life out of all the latest popular smartphones. Agree about the screen though!

Why do these threads always end up the same way?

They can be a laugh at first but FFS they are only mobile phones; choose what you like / prefer.

That's all we need now is for pslewis to make an appearance and he can give us some of his pearls of wisdom on the matter.

Unfortunately maturity doesn't come with age and that goes for the bone idle thread starters that know damn well if they typed in search they wouldn't need to ask the same questions yet again. Failing that they could actually get a mind of their own and make a decision themselves without asking a load of squabbling kids, with pathetic excuses, why they bought whatever.

Just an observation.

Well Chip,I have no idea who you are etc,so I can't argue the fact that you "think" you could or couldn't,my point is/was that in my eyes the way forward is i,so the iPhone gets my vote,I didn't think twice of pre-ordering mine, and when I dropped it I didn't think twice folking out another 700 quid, yes I would buy the iPhone 5 if it was out tomorrow for a grand, two grand, don't know about three grand though lol

I think it's fair to say that the OP didn't start the thread with any intention other than to gain some users views but the thread quickly got moved away from its origin and it spiralled from there.

The release date for the S3 is (as rumour has it) set for feb 2012, no real specs available but again (and take it with a pinch of salt) 12mp camera, anything from 1.5 to 2ghz A15 chip (either dual or quad core), but looks like we will have to wait and find out the "real" specs of this handset, still it sounds pretty promising

You might think so, I don't. A regular contributor to the site would need to be either blind, stupid or a woman to believe that posting such a thread wouldn't cause tantrums.

Given all the apple products you have it makes sense to get the iPhone to use iCloud and sync across your products that way, it's a no brainer.

Having said that if you are not willing to pay for an iPhone which seems to be your issue then you will have to consider a cheaper alternative.

From my experience my iPhone 4 has better battery life than my galaxy s2 did, I use the iPhone more than I did the s2 and the battery still lasts longer

I strongly believe that being a sheep nowadays, is going the Samsung Galaxy S II or Nexus road. I decided for the iphone 4S because I have all my iPod(s) and the iPad 2 based on itunes. I am sure that the iCloud service will be great to use too, once I get my new PC with Win7 (I currently run XP on a Pentium 4 CPU). No issues with battery life after the patch upgrade for the iPhone. I recently held the Galaxy S II in one hand and the iPhone 4S in the other. I could 'feel' the quality difference right away. The Galaxy S II felt very cheap. The iPhone screen size is big enough.

if your a sheep then its the apple side of you thats doing that doing the S2 is freedom compared to sitting with apple, it really is, im actually glad ive gone for the samsung as a works phone over the iphone 4 which I received last year.
The screen on the samsung is better than apples, you would be a fool to say different, quality wise, yes its a bit more plasticy as the S2 doesnt have those nice aluminium inserts, but put both in your back pocket and the iphone will be the one that has a broken screen by the end of the evening.
Battery wise, im finding the S2 lasts longer than my 3gs (not hard ) and longer than the 4, not seen how much better the battery is on the 4s but its a damn sight easier to replace a battery on the samsung than it is on an apple iphone (iphones are not that user friendly in alot of respects when it comes to basic maintenance).

So pay £13 and get a double capacity battery then, still saving on the cost of a iPhone, then when you have it, learn how to setup your Andriod so it doesn't eat the battery.

Maybe not, I can only go on what I see from my kids with their own iphones and their internet is so slow compared to my HTC and the battery also is not as good which they both agree with. In fact one has just changed to a Desire S which she says is as good as the iphone for most things but so much better for the net speed.

As has been said before it all comes down to personal preference and to whether you believe all the hype.
