As said Steve the seller has really good feedback and has answered several questions I've had for him without a problem. My only problem is he's in the US, and I'd be petrified sending that amount just in case.

What else was done to the car besides the 2.1 conversion? I'd be very happy with that curve...

It was running a Chinese 20G copy, a front mount, pump, injectors, and a 2.5 inch fully decatted system. Nothing fancy or expensive and all of it there the first time we saw it.

P.S Quick bit of heads up advice, to get the best out of your build make sure whoever bores the motor uses a stress plate whilst boring and honing !

Eagle rods will be OK for 400bhp,above this bhp(450-500bhp) i would have look for Manley as you are suggested from first, above 500bhp Cosworth/Carrillo/Arrow etc.

Thanks Martyn.

I'm starting to look at the higher end of things, more along the lines of Manley or Crower Ibeams to give me complete peace of mind, but it'll stretch the budget. I'm still unsure of Pistons, whether to go Cosworth/Wiseco. Lateral seem to use Wiseco quite heavily.
Its a mine-field, this supplier sells this, but not that, this sells that but not this. Different pricing depending on where you look, in which country....

The US however seem to think the classic impreza never existed, I'm not sure they were ever sold over there. One site didn't even recognise the year 1994....

Parts in mind so far are
Manley Billet 257 crank with ACL bearings
Rods Manley Ibeam/Crower Ibeam
Pistons Cosworth or Wiseco 92.5mm
ARP headstuds
Cosworth head gaskets
Genuine Subaru gasket set

Then other possible investments are Pink Box, Baffle plate, 1000c Injectors, high pressure oil pump.

Lol, seems to me you'd still be better off talking to us about a drive in drive out.
There's nothing we can't supply and most of it is on the shelf inc I beam rods, although the K1 H beam has proven itself good for well in excess of 500bhp on many occasions.
Pistons we can supply Cosworth, Mahle, Wiseco, Wossner, JE, CP, and Omega to name a few as well as having the first 3 in sets on the shelf.
If you have had the Wiseco and Cosworth pistons in your hand and looked at them thoroughly, you'd always choose the Cosworth piston

Martyn

P.S Billet crank not reqd, save your money on that and get it built for you instead !
P.P.S We also supply fit and map most aftermarket management systems in house too !

Its my youngest Son's 6th birthday tomorrow, My Daughters 1st birthday on New years day, I'm sure you can imagine my bank balance is negative at the moment especially after Chrimbo. I'd love to send the block to you, or even get your recomended breakdown of parts and cost?. Its likely to take at least until March for me to have block and just piston's ready for rebore, let alone crank, clutch, rods etc. I've a rebore company just up the road from me, I'm planning on paying them a visit to see what they can help with, but I have no time at the moment, especially working 26 of 27 days before Xmas.

I'd imagine buying a 257 nitrided crank in the UK would cost the same as what I'm being offered a billet one for from the US, thats without machining for thrust. Part of this is also a learning process for me, although i'd like professional help along the way i also want to do as much myself as possible, without cocking it up obviously.

The idea of having an Impreza "Cosworth" sounds appealing, although I'd have to get a general concencus on how many Cosworth parts I'd need to use before it could have that tag lol....
