Your adding weight by using Newage parts. The box is about 30kgs heavier than a standard 5 speed. All the bits you swap over will increase the weight to close on a Newage car.

but my box lets me do 180mph plus not screaming at 4000rpm at 80 so the better ratio is worth the weight difference in my opionion and with twin scroll and avcs give the early boost i hope and the noise is so different wth twin scroll i no its not everyones cup of tea but it suits the way i drive

agreed but newage parts are much stronger than classic parts and will cope with the higher power much easier

Just fit the 5th gear from a JDM STi for motorways and steady driving .

"agreed but newage parts are much stronger than classic parts and will cope with the higher power much easier".

The basic chassis is strong enough in the two door shell. Just get an uprated engine rebuild by API.

Reliable drive train? I assume you mean a 6 speed versus a 5 speed as the rest of the drive train is fine until you get to really daft levels like 600+ . R160 rear diffs will take pretty much any power and if anything it's the driveshafts that go before anything else.I have a P1 / Type r hybrid with a 6 speed box and an plated R180 rear end. In fact my original 5 speed P1 box coped happily with 450bhp/380ftlb for a couple of years and was still going fine, although I eventually put in a 6 speed dccd for future proofing and fun - should be 500+ shortly.

450bhp, a 6 speed and 1293kg P1 = pretty nippy (348bhp per tonne- more than a 911 GT2 ) vs newage/Spec d at 400bhp /1495kg = 267bhp per tonne. Spec D makes for a good sleeper mind.

the strength of the box was a issue and the 5th gear ratio for motorways the spec d box is the one i wanted for its long ratios being a type r i already had the r180 diffs i do also occassionally rwyb days

the r180 type r diff will be 4.44 ratio and not compatible with the six speed uk and jdm boxes ,i think from memory jdm were 3.9 rear diff and uk are 3.545.
i hope somone can elaborate on this for you or start a new thread.
the search fuction is very usefull and lots of threads exist on six speed conversions.

I have driven both and the P1 ride is better for UK roads.

I did drive something with very similar handling to The Type R but it was many years ago
