Best upgrade path for an 06 WRX

The best STi I could find was around £10k with plus 40tho on the clock, im paying signifigantly less for the WRX with 27k on the clock
With a couple of basic mods it will more than fast enough for what I want, look better IMO and I still have around £2.5-3k in my pocket
The brakes on the scooby are comedy on any model, once you've driven something with a good set up, AKA 911, the stopping power on the scooby is questionable to say the least - but thats how they roll from the factory
Agreed it might need a tweak to suspension to firm it up a bit and I'm lashing on a set of wheels but even given these mods its still cheaper than an STi
Collected the beasty last night have the mapper in on Friday, going for a straight remap under his advice. Keeping it very standard looking and no MOT blues but with a nice sting in the tail ;-)
Considering wheels while using the tyres that are on it so if anybody hears of somebody selling 18' proline speedlines in grey give me shout
I will feed back Friday after the map that Duncan is doing

Howcome you don't at least change the exhaust and up pipe first?

The remap will get it going, if I think it still needs more and by more I mean a lot then I'm in to complete decat plus the other stuff suggested above and thats a different job to the one I'm doing. If I'm going for a lot more power I will need to be considering brakes, suspension etc and it might be at that point the STi is a better place to start.
For now I will have a very standard, understated car that still packs a good wallop and thats just how I like them - wolf in sheeps ;-)

Seeing the name Duncan I'm assuming he's referring to Dynamix?
270bhp is a rather hopeful figure if the car's standard - I'd be surprised if you make much more than 250bhp if the car's unmodified.
Oh, and an STI up pipe and centre decat won't fail the MOT as you'll still have the cat in the down pipe.
I run a Prodrive sports cat on mine, with STI decat up pipe and centre decat pipe, passes MOT fine.
I can't remember if the 2.5 WRX's still have the up pipe cat or not....someone like Shaun (Midlife) or Harvey would know.

Quick shot after work in the rain
Turbo is coming in a lot earlier and massive mid range power - its gooooooood
And nice to know that with an STi turbo and removing the middle cat it will hit 350BHP and still pass the MOT - but that will be later next year
big thanks to Duncan - www.racedynamix.co.uk/

Yes interesting for me also as I have had my '56 Wagon for two weeks now.
Its already had Stage 1 mods - full Milltek, panel filter & remap.
Makes 285bhp/342lbft - ride that torque wave
