Was I right to say something?
I pictured him shouting at me a bunch of obsceinities (SP?) and I'm stood on the High Street looking like a pillock with no power to do anything but take the litter home with me and technically lose the battle because hes a smug little **** who thinks he can get away with it over and over. What are we supposed to do in this day and age to enforce things like this so the youth of today grow up with standards that are dying out rapidly?
think most gyms car parks are rivate property - please someone correct me if i wrong.
if theyre painted in white its not an enforcment but a courtesy to leave them
given my gym has 15 odd disabled spaces, with i think 2 disabled memebers, isnt well managed imo.
dont know if its by law they need to rovide certain number of spaces per size of carpark.
but flip side is, there is constant vandalism to cars in car park, only disabled spaces in veiw of front doors. plus there spaces are not adequate for the size of car parked in them. literally you cannot open your door without hitting the vehicle next to you. some people dont give a fck about there cars, or anyone elses and so it doesnt matter, if youve spent a lot of time and money on your car why shouldnt you be able to park in veiw of reception to prevent vandolism ect.
ive brought this up before with the GM and said ill continue to park there if more than 3 spaces empty, and if a genuinly disbled person cant get parked then shout on me and ill move it, no questions asked.
if they sorted the vandalism issue in car park and spaces size this wouldnt be an issue
dont at all mind giving up a space to a disbaled badge holder. but prefer my prode and joy to be in view of reception to lessen the risk of damage through vandalism

Not long ago, at work (a shop) I saw an elderly lady just scrumple up her receipt and throw it on the floor. It was made worse by the fact that right beside her was a bin. However, we can't say anything as it could lead to a customer complaint and we'd get no backup for what was said. Another situation of a lack of respect (by a grown up) was when I asked for a bloke, probably in his 50s/60s, to put the top on the bottle of pop the child he was with had as it was spilling all over the floor. At first I got a load of mouth about how he was only a kid, which I explained that is why I asked him and not the child to put the top on, purely in case anyone was to slip (which could well have happened if I hadn't been there to clean it and any chance for a claim these days....) as a result I was told to f**k off you fat *******. These instances are just a couple amongst many.
The fact is too many people just have no respect for others or their surroundings and it's not restricted to age. I suppose with adults like the above, what hope is there for future generations?

Sadly, I can't see a solution. About the only thing that can happen as it stands, is people like Chop saying something and hoping their words make a person think twice.
If the law says your gym car park has to have 15 disabled spaces, that would normally mean there's 275 spaces in total. If the actual car park's smaller than that and you've got 15 disabled spaces, it's either down to your local council (demanding more than the national standard) or the gym owners just deciding to have that many off their own bat.
you don't have to walk different or use a wheelchair to be dis- abled some peolpe have disablities that make their life hard and very painfull but can still walk but something can make it hard for them?? not visable to me or you!!! and f**ked heart and they are tryin to get fit??
I dont wanna come across as being racist or anything but sadly your gonna find that other certain ethnic minorities will always pull out the racist card if there gonna loose an argument. Happens to me a lot. I had a argument with the management at my place
They thought it would be funny to get me suspendid from work so I shoot off to the job centre, get meself an appointment. Im in pieces at this point as ive had quite a few grillings so far. Come 8pm I get a call saying its all a joke.
I stick a complaint in about the management and guess what as there Asian they claim im a racist and there gonna report me to the police. I mean how pathetic can you get. Thankfully they both lost their jobs as all my colleagues was backing me
Morale of the story?
If they got the right skin colour there all gonna use it as a white man cant complain about it
As i say tho im far from a racist

I think its ironic that people attending a gym feel the need to park right near the door, used to go to Total Fitness in Wilmslow and see people cruising round looking for a spot for ages, only to then spend 2 hours running or god knows what, surely the few extra yards to the door isnt a big deal, unless of course you have a disability, that kind of being the point of the spaces.

No gym is complete without your loud mouthed Asian wiiideboy, your fat sweaty bald guy who never wipes the equipment down and that **** who sits on the bench press for half an hour doing nothing but texting on his phone. Every gym has to have these people it's the law

A different perspective:
Although upset about what he had done, as he was parking in the wrong place, is it down to you to inforce the rules, and is it any of your business where he parks?
If it had been me parking in the wrong place, and I saw you looking at my windscreen, I'd of assumed you were one of those annoying people who likes to get invovled in other peoples business.
Thing is though, I wouldnt of made an issue about it, I'd of just walked into the gym and got on with what i'm there for - a workout.

'Not my business - SO I DONT CARE'...... whether its litter, parking in the wrong place or someone being mugged - the principles are all the same...
Chopper I dip my hat to you sir - what you did in my books was right.... I'm fed up with the lack of respect and common courtesy in this country...it's shocking!
But isn't this exactly the attitude that has got this country into the position it's in now?

For me, it is these small things that signify a greater issue, litterign etc not being enforced. Police yesterday having to drop charges for someone swearing at them as a judge said they should be used to it by now.
For me chop you did the right thing and I've done the same myself as the mrs is disabled.
You should report him to the cops for threatening behaviour, that'll make the management take notice. I'd also go tot he head office of the gym people and complain that you were verbally abused and they didn't care.
I know you aren't that fussed but there are many ways to make them realise the error of their ways.

Good on ya Chop
I remember one of my first posts on SN was similar but it was a woman in a F355, leather strides and lots of gold bling.
Itwas my first introduction to PSLewis, he went on to try and justify his regular parking in the disabled bay, if they're empty why not or something along the lines, the one constant in 10 years+ on SN he's still a ****

Was walking towards my house the other day and a worker's astra van two doors down opened his window and dropped a load of fast food wrappers and an ashtray full of butts onto the pavement. It shouldn't really make any difference, but this is a nice residential area.
I didn't really stop to think, but just scooped up as much as I could hold and dropped it back in the open window into his lap and said " I think you dropped something, matey... ".
Stupid of me in many ways - i didn't stop to think what if there were a load of monsters in the van, but the casual uncaring laziness really hacked me off so I just did it without thinking. it was also bin day so the pavements were covered with bins and there was one about 2 feet from his door. He was probably just being a feckless builder who on site never seem able to do anything other than just let rubbish fall wherever they are in the hope that the apprentice will have to sweep it all up but it really got to me that day.
There were two blokes in the van and the one who did it (passenger) was so shocked that he said " it wasn't me" LOL. I just looked at him until he went " ahh yeah sorry" before his mate drove off. I'm sure he stopped just up the road and dumped it all out again, but just maybe he'll think twice next time.
Must admit I didn't turn in my gate though until they were out of sight
Wife (correctly) gave me a bollocking, but it's just so easy to let this crap go and occasionally my head goes.

Then you sir are a wuss. Good job we didn't take that attitude with the ***** eh? "Well it's a German thing, nothign to do with us, lets look the other way and pretend it isn't happeneing.

As for being a wuss, I think a more accurate description would be not giving a ****, do you really get that aggrevated that you feel the need to confront somone over what they seem to be looking at?
If the answers yes, I think it might be time to hang up the scooby keys, get yourself a diesel Honda, and book some anger management sessions.
I think there is a slight difference between fighiting off the Germans and getting all pissey over a car parking space.

Is it a sliding scale? Is there some sort of measure we should use to determine whether we should give a **** or not? I mean, I once had a go at someone mugging a woman in London, she managed to hold onto her bag, I didn't do much, I just shouted and he scarpered. I didn't know here, it wasn't my bag, should I have not given a **** and avoided poking my nose in? It's not like it's a serious crime is it?
Let me know if you are grasping the concept yet.

Its been really good to follow this thread, it has restored some of my faith in this country and the people whom reside in it. The few prats who have posted have certainly showed themselves in a different light.
We should never be afraid to point out what is right and what is wrong in life, we should be proud of the values and beliefs we hold. Next time I see this joker in the gym I wont be embarrased I shall ask him where he parked today

Everyone knows what I do for a living and its sadly a common occurance to be called a racist and believe me I've been called a racist for simply asking someone for there ticket or pass.
Its the sad state that our country is in and shows the divide

I say well done mate, why do people take the ****. I find it's usually people who are rich, talking on the phone in there big 4x4. £30 or £60 fine big deal, speeding another fine, big deal.
Parking on yellow lines and disabled bays another big deal until maybe one day they are in a wheelchair and then see how they like it.
