Alpine, so 1990's.

I have just bought this, and of course it's Kenwood.

Not bad LOL, good spec on it, 4v pre-outs, SD card slot etc
Prefer the look of the Alpine stuff though, more classy

I like the look of this:

like this with built in DAB as well:

I had one fitted in the classic as well Frayz without Bluetooth but a great sounding unit, as with this one the tone on it feels deeper and richer than the Kenwood did. I was lucky as this unit is second hand but only a few months old

Got built in Parrot bluetooth on that model as well, nice
Yes Dean the Bluetooth part was a bonus and the phone connected straight to it without any troubles within a few seconds, these days I think hands free is a must.... Ok a stand alone parrot set up is possibly really the way to go but having it on the head unit is a great compromise.

I think I am an Alpine convert now Ty but that is a tidy unit you have picked up there I'm waiting with interest for the pictures of all of your dash parts fitted, I'm waiting on the hazard switch until then I can't do anything here at all so keeping my options open still at least now with head unit and psi installed I know when I do it's a once only deal which is what I think is best.

Funnily enough I was going to buy an Alpine 136bt but as I'm not a big radio listener plus DAB is not the broadcast standard yet so I went for the Kenwood.

More classy? It looks like my Alpine from the late 80's which at that time along with the Denon amp plus Fosgate speakers was worth more than my car at the time.

But times move on...

If you want serious audio, I used to run all Eclipse in my Cosworth. The Headunit had a full solid copper chassis for the cleanest sound possible.

May aswell have a wind up radio in my car now though as I can hear fack all anyway. Lol

Dont think it will be too long before DAB becomes the standard and FM is switched off like analogue tv, so the 136bt is a good way of future proofing, not really an issue though if u buy new headunits quite regularly.

Suppose it comes down to personal taste, there are people who love Pioneer stuff, i got a high end Pioneer unit in my EVO fitted by the previous owner and i hate it

I agree with Frayz that in most modified performance cars the ICE is just in most cases background noise, it can be even less when you have a car with no sound proofing.

The best upgrade for any car sound system has to be the speakers, Sonic Frontiers fitted a set of Morel speakers to my S202 along with Dynamat in the doors to remove any sound distortion.

The difference was amazing, it cost a lot more than the head unit at that time but it made the sound 200% better.

To be honest, mine is there for long journeys only and to fill a hole in the dash. Plus I can charge my phone via the iPod socket in the glovebox. Hahaha

Expensive charger

Yeah ICE always sounds better in a well built car with no rattles and vibration noises and using Dynamat and quality speakers makes a big difference

With the Subaru all you want is something decent that sounds good, your never going to have a car that can run ice in ours as its just not the right sort of car for it really.

Great Merv just what's needed to finish the front end.

Good to hear I've not seen it in ages

My red hazard gets in my hand tomorrow evening so it's green light time

JDM red hazard switch made it to me today thanks Steve

That gives me 2 jobs now that I would like to finish for RallyDay
The second job being wheels off arches cleaned and re under sealed to tidy up then I want to paint the centres of my discs along with the grit guards, they are fading from the oem finish and what I do not want is the dreaded rust to start... If I can get these done for RallyDay I'll be well happy

A sneak preview but I'm not giving to much away just yet

I've removed the panels and have sanded them down in preparation.

Strangely the ash tray cover is in a different colour plastic.

Just a pic showing the panel panel having work started on it.

I'm going to give the black control stickers a go to even though the temperature one is is old money as they are in the states, I'm figuring that location of the switch and info on it will hopefully not show up the different unit of measure used to much.

There's a couple or more hours work there already Frayz..... It's surprising really.
Frustrating parcel farce never turned up today, they should be here tomorrow or on Sunday I'll be driving the car with either a hole in it or a rubbed down console fitted back in !
