PPS in Inverurie (Aberdeenshire) will powdercoat your wheels for £50 each.

This includes bead-blasting the alloys first.

Had a few sets done there and had no problems and a good finish.

This is for the alloy with tyre's removed already.

The issue here is starting off with cheap wheels in the first place.
Even the cheapest £200 refurbs still make buying brand new ones attractive.

However, DIY refurb makes perfect sense when the wheels only cost £400 in the first place.

i bought a "mint" set of wheels decided to have them fefurbed.I saw an ad in the local admag.Big mistake they hadnt got a clue each time they sprayed them the paint reacted.They said the wheels must be seconds,somebody has sprayed them with the wrong paint.Everybody was to blame except them.The paint is lifting in places,i went back to have a word,they said it was down to stone chips but agreed to paint one wheel.I couldnt see any point in doing that.The price for this farce £380 for the 4 wheels.They wanted more but agreed on that price.An expensive lesson i wish i had bought new wheels in the first place.

it's only worth doing high priced wheels think mine are about £1500 new so £312 is a god price need quoted £200 though if i take the rubber off and re fit

when people say cheap wheels heres the thing it does not matter if its
cheap wheels and besides i see a hell of alot of people with 18" inovite redlines on there scoobs.
and £300 for the wheels only for the wheel and tyre package its £600
and unless your spending ££££ on wheels i would think £600 - £800 is avarage for a set of 18"s so no they are not cheap sh*t wheels.
£50 is perfect for a refurb per wheel, that is what i call a reasnoble price.
i would gladly pay that for a refurb i just wont pay £80 + vat per wheel
its not that i couldent afford it because that is certainly not the case i just think thats a little bit cheeky to charge that.
there was some spaz earlier who posted trying to tell me all the work involved as if i didnt know i used to do rufurbs for a job years ago and then trying to justify the price to me.
( hey muppet did you not read in my post earlier that i used to refurb wheels for a living for christ sake )
i know whats involved in refurbing and thats why i am saying it is overpriced
the company in Inverurie pps is charging the right price as they have a modest price list.
and as for these companys charging £320 upwards they are just taking the p**s.

and as for pay peanuts get monkeys you **** you have just joined and putting posts like that you P.R.A.T
your boss would know that line first hand you pr*ck.

Well said Nizmo80, I'm with you all the way pal. There are far too many jokers out there that overcharge in maintenance and service industries.

In many other countries you realise that the same industries charge a decent price for their work. Also they aren't living like kings off their profits, because the type of work they're doing does not command such a living. In this country you come across so many trades where the training is quite easy and obviously with experience the quality of workmanship increases. However, they feel they have the right to demand the pay and benefits of a heart surgeon.

this company does mobile refurbs on alloys and i did a quick quote on some 18's and its £65 per wheel and the wheels are refurbed at your home so £260 and you you dont have to leave the comfort of your own house

hi swaynie thanks but they are a little far away because i am in the north east of scotland ( aberdeen )
buts its cool because i am going to buff my wheels down and spray them myself
and if i do a good job then everthing is ok but if i make a mess of them then i will go to pps in inverurie.
because they are nicely priced at £50 per wheel

Hmm,DIY wheel paining is good in the short term, but cellulose paint doesnt boad well in winter and can wear off with alot of washing

i sprayed my motorbike wheels and had to re-do them 18mths later,1st cost was £65 2nd cost £50 (bought less paint 2nd time) i also bought a harder laquer - still alot cheaper than a pro job but hassle doing them twice etc,plus when you have tyres fitted/removed DIY jobs chip

id say,if you want them MINT, have them done properly,if you dont mind them fading/wearing after a winter or 2,then DIY them.

wheels laways look mint DIY when 1st finished and fitted,its after 4 mths of constant salt water (depending where you live) hitting them

hi the rig i see what your saying with the winter mate i have a set of 17" for winter coz i love to rally my cars in the snow on the country roads.lol

when i do the wheels i think i will put alot of hard laquer on.
is there any trials and errors you can comment on so it will help me out.
