Default Don't worry we'll be working upon your application

Hi snake1906,

Thanks for the application and for thinking of us, we welcome the chance to help with your car Insurance.

When you apply online your details will have been received, but your details will usually be referred to our technical team for rating purposes.

The reason for this being that we have several preferentially rated schemes with our Underwriters that require manual individual assessment of each policyholder before offering terms.

We are modification friendly and will be competitive in most cases.

We’re UK based (have been covering performance and modified cars since 1996) and in addition to traditional cover (windscreen, stereo, 24hr claims service, repair guarantee and courtesy car via approved repairers, £100k legal expenses etc) our cover under these preferentially rated schemes rewards car enthusiasts in terms of pricing and has relevant features (inc. like for like replacement of damaged/stolen modified parts and UK trackday cover).

When making an application online you’ll need to progress to set up a password in order for the risk details to be instantly transmitted, as failing this our I.T. team will have to trace and forward the application to our technical pricing team (which can delay the process by anything up to 24hrs).

As part of this process we do often look to contact you to request additional background detail to unlock further concessions and secure the best deal for you. So please ensure that your correct contact number is listed, as this can also lead to a delayed response.

We’re pretty friendly though and do like to talk to our customers, so if you have applied and have not heard as yet I would suggest contacting our office or PM’ing me your contact details in order that I can follow this up internally for you

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Rutt,

We've always been here and what really helps is that whilst Insurance is our day job, most of the people that have worked at Greenlight over the years own and run (or have owned and ran) the types of vehicle's we Insure. Which really helps.

We understand that people who are genuinely into their cars take better care of them.

Covering cars that people are proud to own really helps, with the models we cover being high performance they also have better handling (suspension and braking) and also better vehicle security than basic everyday models.

We also like the fact that our customers spend their hard earned cash to enhance their vehicles to their own specification through aftermarket modifications. It shows you clearly care about the way your car looks or performs and to us represents a great moral factor that most mainstream companies ignore.

Anyway, you're clearly into your cars and it was great to talk to you

Kind regards

Tony

P.S. Thanks once again for your business

Well I'm a bit disappointed today. I'm currently looking to sell the Impreza as I need a diesel. Got my heart set on a BMW 330D but Greenlight won't let me switch my cover to one of those as I haven't driven one for the last 12 months.

I understand why this is the case, but it's very frustrating. My current car is 280bhp and my previous cars include a 300bhp MR2 Turbo and a 200bhp E36 328i Sport. My girlfriend (named driver on the policy) had a 220bhp Jag S-Type taht we both used on a regular basis up until about 3 months ago.

Gutted now and not sure what to do..... I could hang on til the policy ends at the end of Feb, but I've been offered the asking price for the car now and the running costs are crippling me at this moment in time

It's a shame because I've found Greenlight to be very good up to this point, and wished to remain with them.

Hi Jay,

Thanks for taking the time to post.

Sorry to hear that your current Insurer with us had been unable to accommodate the new vehicle for you.

With rear wheel drive models (inc. BMW, Mercedes, TVR, Porsche) being expensive to fix and far more likely to encounter problems (particularly if automatic transmission) in winter conditions than an all wheel drive Impreza you'll find most of our preferentially rated product Underwriters will need you to have recent driving experience of a performance rear wheel drive model.

Having said that, the background detail that you're listing here (including 300bhp MR2 and E36 328i - both of which are rear wheel drive) would be both relevant and helpful. As would the Jaguar experience.

I'd be happy to help and I'll be able to take a look at this for you if you can PM me your details along with the dates that you had driven these vehicles between. With you sharing your girlfriend's Jaguar S-Type (if you can confirm how long you have been sharing the Jaguar) this would also be another supporting factor for a change to a bigger bhp rear wheel drive model.

If it's manual transmission, or a vehicle that isn't required for commuting this will also help.

The supporting detail that you have provided here is useful and if we can verify the detail we stand a decent chance of being able to make the change happen for you.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Tony,

Great service there

I must have sent you a PM at the same time you posted this.

Basically the Jaguar was an auto, and we were both using this from around June 2011 right up to September 2012. It was a W reg S-Type 3.0.

I had a couple of MR2's from around the back end of 2009 right up to buying the Impreza in Feb 2012.

Hope that detail can make some headway for me. And yes, the BMW would be a manual. I couldn't live with an auto!

Cheers!

Hi Jay,

We will need to run this past the Underwriters of your policy, but with the background detail you've kindly provided I'm fairly sure they'll cover this for you.

Leave this with me and i'll get back to you tomorrow

Kind regards

Tony

Very kind and much appreciated.

Bit of additional info:
It will definitely be a 330d Sport, will be an 03 to 05 model E46 and will be a saloon or coupe but not a convertible as they appear to be out of budget. Looking at a value of £3k - £4k.

Re: my PM, if you could let me know about insuring a 2nd car too or if my partner would be better off insuring it with me as a named driver instead, I'd really appreciate it

Hi Jay,

Just to let you know, the background detail really helped and we've cleared your experience with Underwriters. Meaning we'll be able to cover the manual BMW (E46) 330d Sport for you

Covering a 2nd vehicle would be fine too and we can mirror your NCB percentage from the first policy onto the 2nd car, so you'll not be starting from scratch with the discount.

We can also save you some more money if you're able to limit the annual mileage to the 2nd car, with further concessions where you don't need to commute (which presumably would be possible as the BMW would be the everyday commuter).

Thanks once again for your contact, you've helped to save the day.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Jay,

Thanks for all the detail, i'm glad that we managed to get the BMW cover sorted out for you and we will be able to mirror your NCB to your future project.

Now it's just a case of finding the right car.

Have a great weekend

Kind regards

Tony

Hi steve,

Thanks for posting.

Adding your partner is unlikely to reduce the offer that we have managed to source for you, as most of our products aimed at performance, modified and specialist vehicles offer the best terms where it's just you driving.

Adding someone who is not a regular user (or may never use your vehicle) would not usually reduce the premium or terms provided by us. With the ethos being that as the owner who chose (plus may have modified the vehicle to your own specification) and drives it regularly, would be the best bet behind the wheel.

If you do need other drivers we can accommodate this and several of our products will be able to include other drivers without a charge where they are a similar age (or older) than you and have a decent driving record.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Steve,

The best route would be to call us (01277 376000) so we can take down your wife's detail and re-run the quotation when you call (it will only take around 5 minutes).

Alternatively, if you can PM me your contact details we'll be able to call you to run through this for you

Kind regards

Just thought I would pop in here to say a big "THANKS". I should be changing my car by the 12th March (renewal date) to a Scoob and had a fantastic quote from you guys the other day!

Safe to say I will be coming back to the Green-fold!!!

(as always, it was a pleasure talking to the chap I dealt with and it didn't seem the menotenous, laborious process that normally comes with dealing with insurers)

Hi Adam,

Thanks for taking time out to post.

We launched back in early 1996 and have always been a specialist Insurance provider, it's all we do.

Most of our team own and run (or have owned and ran) the types of vehicles we Insure, which as you found really helps and makes arranging Insurance more like talking to a friend about your car (who happens to work in Insurance).

We've never been the usual "men in grey".

Our cover is relevant too, as we pioneered like for like replacement of modified parts and also offer features like track cover as an option. Which would be in addition to the usual policy features (windscreen cover, stereo cover, 24hr claims service, courtesy car etc).

Kind regards

Tony

Hi snake1906,

Thanks for your business, it’s genuinely appreciated

We’re UK based and in addition to traditional cover (windscreen cover, audio cover, courtesy car, repair guarantees etc) we have specialised products with relevant features (like for like replacement of modified parts, trackday cover). Most of our staff own and run (or have owned and ran) the types of cars we look to Insure, which also helps.

Glad you liked our service.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Gregwill,

We can cover the Litchfield imports models (including the type 20 and 25’s) and would be able to help with your type 20.

We’ll need to take some more detail about you and your record (NCB etc) to be able to look at this for you. If you have 10 minutes spare and don’t mind calling us on 01277 376000 (or alternatively, PM’ing me your contact details) we’ll be able to run through this with you.

Kind regards

Tony

P.S. With your policy not being due for a while it may be worth waiting until nearer the time, as our Underwriters price guarantees usually only last for 21 days.

Hi Tony. My insurance is up in March! Before I ring yas do you insure cars with a Manchester postcode?

Saves me ringing up and going through all the questions etc. Get it a lot with my postcode. Had the car 5yrs now at the same address if that helps at all!

Cheers Craig

Hi Razorwrx1,

Thanks for posting.

We can cover several Manchester postcodes through referral to Underwriters and having your car at the same address for the last 5 years will help.

If you can PM me your actual postcode, parking arrangements at home and whether you need to commute with the vehicle i'll check this with our technical team for you

Kind regards

Tony

Hi snake1906,

Thanks for posting.

The good news is that having checked I can confirm your policy is still in force, meaning you're still covered.

Our email that you had received was our 4th contact with you (3 emails, 1 letter) over the last month. It was a final reminder before your Insurer requests to start the policy cancellation process.

It's likely they'll ask us to issue a 7 day cancellation letter (in accordance with the road traffic act), but even if this happens it does give us 7 days to get the required documents in to the Underwriter.

We can take documents in various formats, scan/email, photo/email, fax, or even letter depending upon what suits you.

I'm not sure how you sent the original documents, but we'll need to receive copies of these asap - so if you can call us urgently we're ready, willing and will be able to work with you to get things back on track

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Kevstar,

Thanks for taking the time to comment, very kind of you.

Two of the key factors we look at are how long you've owned your car (or similar) along with the mileage you cover with your car in a year. We're also modification friendly.

Some of the mainstream providers don't seem to value these factors in the same way as specialist firms do.

We ask the key factors that make a difference to us, which ensures we're providing you with the best cost cover we can find for you. If other mainstream companies are not doing this, it can make us look particularly competitive against them.

Kind regards

Tony

Thumbs up

Kudos to Neil from Greenlight for ringing me the other day (after I completed an online form)

It's the sort of customer service on insurance I like. He was extremely helpful and ran me rough all the benefits of a policy to suit me.

I actually rang today and accepted the quote he gave me the other day, didn't speak to Neil today. But just thought I'd put a post up on here for anyone interested about Greenlight.

Covered on my standard UK turbo (although I added 17's today) with a mod friendly scheme (nice to know if I do decide to change anything) which light mods don't effect premium and they offer track cover for £45 a time. I did get a better offer from A Plan on price but gave the business to Greenlight as I was impressed with Neil's work on the phone and what seemed a genuine interest. Plus A plan don't do track cover (prob never use it but it's nice to know it's there if I do get myself in gear)

Boss of Greenlight should be pleased to know Neil is pitching a great service to potential customers! Keep it up.
