As he is only earning £100k then I would suggest he looks at the JAGUAR XK CONVERTIBLE 5.0 Supercharged V8 R 2dr Auto - just £72,577 OTR.
It looks as good as anything on the roads today ....

From an aesthetic point of view,Jaguar and the Aston so much more stunning than the Porker and Nissan.Indeed ,so is the R8
I'm sorry you Porsche lovers but never got the knee trembling feeling from any Porsche at all (nearly with a 959 )
So many stunning supercars out there,Porsche isn't one of the lookers

watching the jag xk-rs recently you cant beat the sound of them from an out the box car, plus look great imo
but from events i was at, its performance was a bit behind what i expected, an old d plate sapphire cossie beat it, ok stripped out, but still only 400bhp.
but again the noise was fantastic

Unless the guy wants to go as fast as possible and even faster around roundabouts then it doesn't sound like the gtr is for him. The gtr is a great car for people who really get a thrill from driving at mental speeds and perhaps even road racing.
It sounds like this guy just wants a nice fast sports car. I think he would love any of the following
Porsche Turbo pdk
AM V12 vantage
R8, but only the v12, not the ultra gay v8 version

There is lots of choice. He should simply go and drive 4 or 5 of the suggestions and then see which one he "gets", and that might be none of them and he will just keep what he has and be happy with it. If he has no desparate need to get a luxury or fast car out of his system, most people would be as happy in a Mondeo (or Legacy, old Land Rover etc) even those who have more in the bank to blow on a car than most of use will earn in a lifetime. It is like watches, some people just want something that tells the time.
Sounds like he wants a C2 though, and that is not a bad choice at all if it is what he likes.

To even be compared to a £1mn+ hyper car, regardless of being modified or not, is a feather in the cap for the GTR

Porsche new car warranty is three years, not two.
I am sure you are aware the 991 new model is out in December.
If he is happy with the 997, I am sure he can pick up a new or very nearly new 911 GTS - most magazines will say it is the best 911, bar the full fat GT cars.
It was a run off so loaded with kit - basically a tarted up 2S with a few tweaks.

Sounds to me like he likes the idea of a porker as do many, but i think the reality is something different.
You have to be a pretty hard core petrol head and a reasonably decent/experienced driver to get the best out of one, which is why my neighbours son sees them in and out of the bodyshop on an almost monthly basis, i kid you not, so many of them end up in a hedge backwards more than once.
If you mate has no real experience of performance cars and wants something special to go to london and back with some serious shove and real class that will receive admiring glances from both men and women there is only one car.
Aston Martin.
