I used the power of Twitter last night to ask them how many people they were expecting to stay over night. The reply came back "why dont you come and see for yourself"
Well if I did that it would look like I was there to sympathise, as im not allowed to throw water or rubbish at them so I declined saying "No thanks, like most of the protesters im at home in a warm bed, and unlike most of them I have a job to go to in the morning"

I found a board for the Glasgow 'occupation' and tried to get them to elaborate on the actual point of it. So far not much luck.
Here's what I asked.
And here's the first reply.
It's the sort of 'argument' you see time and time again.
"We're being f*cked over"
"In what way?"
"'Cos they're taking all the wealth"
Blah, blah, blah.
Here's what I asked.
I understand that this is an anti-capitalist 'movement' (or at least anti-some elements of the present system) and an attempt to do something about symptoms of it perceived as injustice; but what is the ultimate goal here? Is there something specific? And where does this injustice lie in the first place? At the moment it just seems like another opportunity to bash 'corporate greed'.
I have to say, as a regular guy - one of the 99% - I just don't get it. If there isn't a common cause, i.e. no generally agreed goal, then isn't it just a bunch of people sitting around being angry at something?

You don't feel like you're being ****ed over by the 1%?
If you're unwilling to add your voice into shaping the society you live in, doesn't that indicate that you're happy to have your life shaped by that 1%?
Rhetorical questions are fun, no?

lol @ the spiteful little ****es, that just want it all on a plate. I agree there is a tiny minority who live above the rules etc, but that exists in all walks of life.
Get over themselves, start contributing and get back to reality!
These are people that dont have a clue what they are talking about. I was at St Pauls a week ago, reading the live Tweets from OccupyLSX and other accounts, all saying about how violent it was all getting, the kettling that was going on, the brutality etc.... I was there, and saw none of it whatsoever... Maybe others should do the same, and rather than blindly follow these idiots, actually take a look at the cause themselves.

So, so far they've forced the resignation of the Dean of St Pauls and made this more to do with the Church than anything they're protesting about. They've achieved the square root of squat and created a real eye sore in front of one of England's magnificent buildings. Will they still be there come Remembrance Day? I bloody hope not and hopefully they'll show their mark of respect by shifting their little shanty town and have the decency not to disrupt the Remembrance Day proceedings.

I went there for the big air display they used to have.
You could smell those women from quite a distance!

Sod human rights and right to protest, this is taking it all too far. The fact the clowns believe the church are supporting them just shows how they are.
Time to go !

They are wasting tax payers money on policing and legal action, and are being a PITA in general. Go amongst them and you will see what I mean.
Hose them down and be done with it.
Hope they move before the 5th, there could be an accident lol

It's terrible.
These annoying smelly protesters, who are probably unemployed and have very little in the way of job prospects due to the state of the economy for years down the line, are actually causing a bit of an eyesore for the people who have to work in the area - the poor millionaire bankers with their seven-figure bonuses and the CEOs with the 50% rise in salary in the last year.
I mean, come on, they have to look at TENTS! How dare they set up a TENT!

The biggest mytsery to me, is why they do it when it will make sod all difference to anything. Defeatist maybe, but realistic too. To many of them, "anarchy" is a lifestyle choice. Only most of them haven't got the first clue what an anarchic state would be like. Not the first clue. It's that ignorance i cannot stand above all else.

But it's easier to take a side-swipe at bankers. Much easier. Always a ripple of applause somewhere in the crowd for a banker-bashing soundbyte.

I'm not sure what point you're making. Because the public sector is at it too, we should all just bend over? Besides, I'm fairly sure there's been outrage at the public sector too, but I'm sure its scale doesn't compare to the craziness that is the City.

I don`t support their politics per se but I support their protest in escence.
We`ll never create a lefty utopia where selfishness is abolished...that would indeed be a
tyrany...but I do believe that our economic elites are necessery when they are useful but when they become corrupt and useless they should go down.
The wealth tranfer that was the bailouts is evidence of the latter kind of elite...as is the QE...and now we have CEOs etc getting 50% pay rises whilst workers see their living standards fall. It is all extremely ugly. Big wealth gaps equal social instability. That is not a moral position but a realistic one.
The SN middle class brigade might turn their noses up but at some point you too will be on the street if trends continue. Complacency won`t make you immune to as living standards fall and inflation rises as happened in Weimar.
The sight of the Home Secetary sayng they must be moved on is LOL...we`re we not praising the Egyptians in Tahyr square just a few months ago?

I think they should step up the protests and actually protest the financial institutions who are the real scumbags. I don't have a clue what they are achieving by protesting at a church. Go petrol bomb a bank and set fire to a banker at least then we can see are they prepared to sacrifice their liberty for a higher ideal.

Pointless protest.
My feelings on it... http://michaelsnasdell.blogspot.com/...impressed.html

It is the best example of a middle class supporting a revolution because they were facing pressure on their living standards. Russian and French revolution are lesser examples.
The most regretful thing about the bailouts are that the elites who robbed us were just able to get away with it? Is it not the case that if you let bad men get away with being bad that they just get worse?
Sure the Campers are a rabble but at least they are visible.

Plus, I was listening to one of them this morning on Sky (seemed reasonably well educated) and they have no plans to move away for the 11/11 service(s). Just shows their selfish, lack of respect for their fellow citizens and those that really have sacrificed all just so these clowns are able to "protest" as they do!
