Yeah, but really, who gives a flying **** !
Blokes get all tribal about anything, religion, football and now bleeding mobile phones, they all do much the same job, buy one, use it and if it doesn't suit, get another.
Why do we feel the need to justify our choice and try and discredit someone elses.

I said that because people always say iPhone versus Android, not iOS v's Android or Samsung Galaxt SII v's iPhone 4. To use your analogy, it's like saying diesel outselling the Ford Fiesta Zetec S. The iPhone will be the most popular phone as there are so few models around, if you want iOS you have no choice. If you prefer Android there are hundreds of different models available and new ones come out all the time. No one particular Andoid powered phone will outsell whatever the most current iPhone is as the Android market is so diluted.

I don't want a phone to jailbreak and then have to work out what to do to make it "do" special things. I want one that I have seen do some clever stuff, and do it easily.
That's what Apple does IMO, and if you have to pay for it, fine.
You don't **** a £20 ***** and not expect to itch afterwards.

Lots and lots of gullible sheep that buy it for the shiney shiney!!
And as for Chavs, EVERY one I`ve EVER seen has a iPhone lol.
They have it as a status symbol, and because they are dull enough to believe the marketing strategy.
Would you buy a new car and have to buy a steering wheel, they by tyres, then buy a windscreen. As if Apple were a car manufacturer you`d have a shell and an engine, everything else you have to buy. And gullible people STILL think its a good idea. Why not just burn money in the street you`d atleast be warm.
Why can`t you buy something and actually have it work?? Is that such a big idea?

I get regular updates, easy backups and syncing, works very smoothly, never crashes. It does what I want it to do.

When I decided on mine I had these criteria, in this order.
Good camera 10 megapixel.
Good Call package.
Good Data package.
Free Texts.
Good video HD.
Satnav - Free.
FM transmitter.
MP3 player that I don`t need Itunes to work.
Free phone.
Simple to use phone, that doesn`t crash, and does everything I want for free.
So no I didn`t get an iPhone.

If you use the car analogy, they way I see it is that iPhone is like what the BMW 3 series was back in the nineties, premium brand and people bought it not because of how it drove but because of the image that went with it, so much so people still clambered to get a boggo 318i to get in with the crowd, which was way behind the competition in terms of ability. With this BMW 3 series became very popular even out selling the Mondeo.

Lets not forget the ONLY reason why they got popular was a case, where as PC`s were in a beige box (due to businesses etc) the Mac went into a colourful box which looked nice. To be fair how many PC users could really tell the difference on a hardware and soft ware level. As most just say starts up quickly, and looks nice.
Its all brand snobbery and perceiving a brand to be better, which most brands aren`t.

More of the same eh Jimbob?
Angry at iPhone users because you chose an N8, come on I can understand the debate between Android and iPhone owners but comparing a Nokia to either Android or iOS.
Nokia are effectively in their death throws in the smartphone market, it's only the revenue they generate from their low end offerings which appears to be their only saving grace.
And as for the usual shiney shiney comment there is nothing wrong with having a product which is asthetically pleasing, I mean Samsung like the iPhone 3GS and 4 so much that they made the Galaxy and Galaxy 2 look very 'similar'.

You really are the a-typical type to own such a phone like that. Cannot use 99% of its functions, and paid over the odds for it. As you wish to have the brands which make you look a certain way, which is making you something your not.
Hip/cool, I know that to not be the case, being an individual, I don`t think so.
Now read what I actually wrote, not what you thought I wrote.
They like fads, they have no desire for the gadgets, just that they fit in with the crowd. 99% of people who have a mobile are influenced by their mates/friends/work colleagues, and the 1% don`t buy Iphone or Android.

I'd say most people with an iPhone bought it simply because they like it. It's a good product.
I don't think your car analogy works to be honest as no iPhone would be the "318i"
